And we're off to a flying start! Our new Musicale St Albans' students arrived, enjoyed and left with a smile (and hopefully knowledge and inspiration too)!

It's first steps for all of us this week, as this is the first time Musicale has opened a second venue for transforming students into confident musicians.

We have *limited* spaces available for ANYONE IN ST ALBANS to experience the joy of making music! Currently, the following lessons can be booked immediately, with more to follow:
* Brass lessons on Mondays
* Violin and viola on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
* Drums and guitar on Wednesdays
* Flute and saxophone on Wednesdays
* Singing on Thursdays (Only ONE space available)

🎵 One of my New Year’s goals was to go to more live music! I’m always a little envious of friends’ posts from concerts and theatres, especially when they’re the ones performing!

So it was a real treat to hear our wonderful friend and Musicale senior strings coach, Yasmin, performing an evening of Hans Zimmer’s music at St John’s, Southdown. A stunning performance right on our doorstep, and a brilliant live classical music experience for all ages. 🎻

🤩Watching live musicians can spark that wonderful thought: “I’d love to do that!” For children learning an instrument, it’s a chance to hear where those first notes could lead and find fresh excitement in their own playing. My most distinct memory of this happening was when I was about 10 years old watching Tasmin Little perform in an old church in London. She filled the venue not just with her incredible talent but also with her joyful presence. I wanted to be just like her!

And Musicale students, notice that lovely bow at the end! 👏 Taking a bow is part of becoming a confident performer: feeling proud of what you’ve shared and thanking the audience for listening. Something we’ll keep practising at our own concerts! Remember "Did I shine my shoes today?"!

🏆🤩⭐We're so proud of our wonderful Graham! 🏆🤩⭐

The Harpenden Gang Show inherited the BEST MD this year (after decades of being rehearsal pianist!) and he has been awarded for his brilliance!

Graham has just a couple of spaces for students at Musicale this term for singing, piano and bassoon lessons! Get in touch ASAP before these go...

Our very own Graham, Tania and Oscar were delighted to attend the NODA East Region District 3 Awards yesterday 🏆

Gang Show 76 was nominated for the following categories:

While we didn’t take home the trophy on this occasion, it was a real privilege to be recognised on a district level 🎭

🤩We are SO excited in the Musicale community counting down the hours before our first students arrive at our NEW ST ALBANS venue!

🎺We had an AMAZING time meeting potential students at a meet and greet at Bernards Heath Junior School. Students tried lots of instruments ahead of Wednesday's lessons starting. Don't panic - a trombone is no louder than a saxophone! 😂

Looking for 6 trained/excellent boy singers to do a short backing track recording please.

Ideally they need to be age 9-12, and must have unbroken voices.

Recording details
DATE: Monday 31st August
TIMES: 2-5pm
VENUE: Wheathampstead (will share details privately)

The recording will only be used once, and will not be published or shared, other than to the artist, who will be performing the song in September at a private event.

🎶Such a creative week! 🤩We've got FOUR courses taking place and it's AMAZING! So much energy and incredible skills being showcased.
🤘🏼Our new course - Musicale Rocks! has been rocking out all week in our home building at Musicale. Who'd have thought you could have so many drum kits in one place!👨🏼‍🎤⭐There is a lot of passion being belted out from the bands and our first Musicale Rock Gig will see a lot of moshing and who knows, maybe even some crowdsurfing...! 😂🎸
🎭Musicale Theatre are putting the finishing touches on their production of High School Musical Jr taking place at Katherine Warington School tomorrow evening. Cheerleading practice on the top field, sound tech discussions - can you actually dance with a microphone?! - costumes, staging...SO much to consider in just 5 days! But we're All in this Together! 🎤
🎵Week Two orchestra is preparing a musical feast for their audience tomorrow too! They have delved into all sorts of pieces this week. They've been challenged and tested to their limits and that's just the staff. 🤪We're looking forward to hearing their performance at the end of the day. 🎻🎺
🥁And lastly, but showing just as much enthusiasm for music, is our Step up to Music week two cohort of 2026! Discovering the connections of colour in music and getting creative with their t-shirt and hat designs, we can't wait to see these young musicians-in-waiting tomorrow afternoon as they show us their new found talents! 🥁🎹🪇🪈

We're so proud of each and every young musician and performer. These are busy weeks that they give their all and the staff enjoy the courses as much as the students. It's a joy to see and hear music alive and kicking in Harpenden!
