New book author in Craftastic: Irene Edwards 📚

Irene Edwards is a retired teacher who now writes fantasy fiction for children. As an educator, she taught primary level in many parts of the UK; London, Essex, Coventry, Midlands, Cardiff, Port Talbot, Swansea and Carmarthenshire. She then qualified as a Teacher of the Deaf at The Lady Spencer Churchill College, Oxford, working at first within unit settings and later moving to peripatetic, for schools and clinics. Knowing how important literature and language is to the structure of speech and language development, on retirement she began research into the imaginary minds of children, and their world of literature and writing.

We’re excited to welcome a new local poetry author to the shop! 💜

Lucy Aur 📖

In her debut poetry pamphlet, Lucy Aur offers an unflinching and intimate exploration of grief, lending voice to the quiet, often unspoken emotions that arise in the wake of profound loss. With striking clarity, she guides readers through the chill of absence, the solitude of mourning, and the unexpected glimmers that still manage to surface.

Hope is found in dressing gowns and cups of tea, light is found in the starry sky, and laughing in the aftermath of pain is powerful, not disrespectful.

These poems resonate not through grand gestures but through their quiet honesty. They remind us, with tenderness and grace, that grief may be deeply personal, but it is never truly solitary.
