Yes, we don't just sell stoves - we install them too.
One of the most common situations we come across is arriving at a major renovation project and hearing:
"This is exactly where we want the stove."
The challenge is that, by this stage, the room has often already been designed and built around the idea of a stove, rather than the practical requirements of installing one.
Some of the issues we regularly encounter include:
• Flue routes blocked by existing joists, steel beams, ceilings, or roof structures.
• A dream fireplace opening, inglenook, or bespoke chimney breast that isn't large enough or has the wrong lintel arrangement for the chosen stove.
• Floor structures that aren't suitable for the weight or size of the desired hearth.
We always find a solution, but sometimes the finished installation isn't quite the stunning focal point it could have been if the stove had been considered earlier in the renovation process.
The best approach is to treat your stove like any other major design feature, such as a kitchen, staircase, or structural opening. The most impressive stove installations, we find, are planned from the very beginning, before plastering, flooring, TV placement, and furniture layouts are finalised.
A wood-burning stove isn't just something you add at the end. The best results happen when it's part of the original design.
