Summer Eating Made Simple

Summer is the season for lighter meals, fresh ingredients and effortless entertaining. A simple salad of grilled vegetables, seasonal leaves and fresh herbs can become something special with just a little help from your kitchen appliances.

🏛️ A Landmark Achievement in the Heart of Reading 🏛️

We’re proud to showcase our work at Jackson’s Corner, one of Reading’s most iconic and historic buildings.

Originally opened in the 1800s as the flagship store of the beloved Jackson’s department store, this landmark building served generations of local people before closing its doors for the final time on Christmas Eve 2013. Its transformation into contemporary homes has given this treasured part of Reading a new chapter while preserving its rich heritage.

We were honoured to be selected by Ankor Property Group to design and install the kitchens for this prestigious development of 33 apartments, carefully created behind the building’s historic façade, distinctive Collier brickwork, and famous Hollywood-style signage.

For the interiors, we supplied sleek white Second Nature Porter kitchens, complemented by contrasting black laminate worktops and glass splashbacks, creating stylish, modern living spaces designed for today’s homeowners and commuters.

Every kitchen was installed with the care, attention to detail, and craftsmanship that define our Contracts Division, ensuring a high-quality finish built to stand the test of time.

Projects like Jackson’s Corner are a reminder of why we love what we do – helping bring new life to historic buildings while creating beautiful homes for the future.

This stunning renovation showcases how thoughtful colour choices can completely transform a space.

As part of a whole-house renovation, our clients wanted to create a bright, open-plan kitchen, dining and snug area that would become the social heart of their home. While the original vision centred around wood tones and green cabinetry, the design evolved through our presentation process to embrace a softer, more elegant palette.

The result is a beautifully balanced Elements Pure Hadley Micro Shaker kitchen featuring Cashmere, Antique Rose and Marine Blue cabinetry, paired with Calacatta Gold quartz worktops and bronze-toned hardware.

A long statement island creates the perfect hub for cooking, entertaining and family life, complete with a sleek venting hob and integrated wine cooler. Carefully considered storage solutions, including a double-door larder and generous island drawers, ensure the space is as practical as it is beautiful.

One of our favourite features is the striking sink area, framed by tall cabinetry and elevated by a full-height splashback that transforms an everyday workspace into a true design feature.

💡 Designer’s Tip:

Don’t be afraid of colour. A sophisticated kitchen doesn’t have to rely on neutral tones alone. By balancing light and dark shades, alongside warm and cool tones, you can create depth, character and a space that feels uniquely yours.

✨ CASE STUDY | Contemporary Two-Tone Shaker Kitchen ✨

This beautiful kitchen transformation in Emmer Green was designed to create a bright, sociable and practical space for modern family living.

By removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, we created a seamless open-plan layout that brings cooking, dining and entertaining together in one welcoming space. The result is a timeless shaker kitchen featuring a sophisticated two-tone palette, premium Siemens appliances, elegant quartz worktops and warm oak accents throughout.

One of our favourite details is the bespoke storage nook, complete with tongue-and-groove panelling, oak shelving and handcrafted pegs. Designed to add both character and functionality, it transforms an existing doorway into a beautiful focal point for everyday family life.

With a growing family and a full home renovation taking place simultaneously, careful planning and project coordination were essential to delivering a smooth experience from start to finish.

The finished space is bright, inviting and perfectly tailored to how the family lives today – a kitchen designed not just to look beautiful, but to be enjoyed every day.

💡 Designer’s Tip:
When planning a kitchen island, allow 1000–1200mm clearance around cabinetry to ensure drawers, doors and appliances can be used comfortably. A simple trick is to mark out your proposed layout with masking tape on the floor before finalising the design.

One of our latest real customer kitchens, designed to feel timeless, calm and effortlessly connected to the character of the home.

Hand-painted Aquamarine cabinetry brings a soft depth of colour throughout the space, beautifully balanced by warm timber textures, natural oak flooring and crisp quartz worktops. The open-plan layout creates a relaxed flow between the kitchen and dining areas, making the space feel equally suited to entertaining and everyday family life.

One of the standout features within this project is the glazed display cabinetry — introducing both personality and practicality while creating lighter visual moments across the room. Carefully styled display spaces help break up solid cabinetry and allow treasured pieces to become part of the overall design story.

Designer’s tip: Glazed display cabinetry can be an excellent way to introduce personality and visual interest into a kitchen while maintaining a sense of openness and lightness. Combining closed storage with carefully styled display areas helps create a balanced design that feels both practical and beautifully individual.

Layered lighting, clean architectural lines and subtle shaker detailing complete the design, resulting in a kitchen that feels elegant, welcoming and beautifully in keeping with its surroundings.
