Part 2
So in continuation from my previous post about where Odd Cup is going with its packaging.

Neat Stuff Designs uses deadstock and fabric that would otherwise end up in the landfill and I thought this would be the perfect answer to our problem . Sourcing material may be another thing but we have found some plus we have been gifted fabric from people no longer needing it.

As not all bits of fabric are a suitable size for our soap bags we also make other items which use these bits. Many of them are patchwork or are made using the pieces that are not quite the correct colour. So hopefully by making these other pieces we do not contribute to the landfill but instead make some rather unique products. Our goal is to be zero waste in this respect which will take time but we are already on the journey with each scrunchy, head band , journal cover, pencil case, tote bag and the many other ideas that seem to constantly fill my head.

Finally I have managed to sew a few things for this weekends fayres ! I'm not sayings it's a mammoth amount but it was enough to begin with and it meant I could sit at my machine for a bit.

So it's onwards and upwards, but still being careful with my back, getting ready for Envirolution on Saturday and Zen Fayres Macduff men's shed event on Sunday hope to see you there. P.S. they are both free to visit x

Fingers crossed I will be fit for this event 🤞, I've been looking forward to it for ages.

So what do you do when you have loads of work to do but you've managed to put your back out?

Well I can just about do a bit of felting as I cannot stand and make soap nor sit at my machine and do any sewing. So I've made a wee Odd Cup sheep and I'm also having a go at making her some accessories. I'll leave you guessing as to what I'm making just in case I make a right fist of it 😁.

Fingers crossed I'm a tad more active in the coming days as we have a busy weekend to look forward to attending Envirolution in Aberdeen on Saturday and the Macduff men's shed on Sunday.

A peep into the way we work at Odd Cup and its going to be in two parts as it will be long 😳.

Another one of my brilliant ideas was to package our soaps in wee little bags that we make ourselves. I thought of this because I hate plastic packaging and I think the cardboard bands on a bar of soap is naff.(personal opinion) Plus I don't believe I have ever seen anyone else packages their bars this way so it would also, hopefully, be unique.

As with all of my 'brilliant' ideas (kilts on mice included) I didn't really think of the work involved. To put this in context my last batch of bags, which is just a top up, was 300+.

During the whole bag process ideashave come and gone. Originally people chose the bag they wanted and this could cause a problem when dealing with large quantities. So we bagged them up and people chose them that way. Then we decided to colour coordinate the bags to each type of soap. This made the display look less chaotic and the varieties easily discernable.

But with the making of the bags comes the problem of sourcing the fabric. To begin with we would just buy what we wanted but somehow that didn't feel quite right. But after having several chats with Neat Stuff Designs we found the solution.

Thank you if you got this far I'll fill in the rest of this story in the next post.

Do a mouse with a kilt on I said, it will look cute I said, it will be fun I said. Well I'll be the first to admit that they look cute but it probably took as long to felt the mouse as it did to make the kilt !

And yes I know its not a real kilt but it's not a real mouse either.

These will take their first outing to Seaton Park on the 5th September for the Envirolution event. If you want to sn**ch one up get there early as the last one didn't stay long. I will mount them before the event so they will look a tad different but only from the foot paws down.
