The Art of Raku

Shapes and subjects may repeat, but the final result will never be the same.

The Raku technique stems from an ancient Japanese tradition: each piece is pulled glowing hot from the kiln and plunged into organic matter, such as leaves or sawdust.

It is precisely this thermal shock, combined with oxygen deprivation, that creates signature metallic reflections and one-of-a-kind crackle patterns.
