Pretty little things, indeed 💛

Meet Christchurch artist and full-time art teacher Vicky Peacock. Vicky's work is inspired by the natural world, from sweeping landscapes and native flora and fauna to delicate, close-focus studies of plants. Working across acrylic, pencil, ink, charcoal and digital illustration, she creates pieces that live somewhere between reality and reverie.

"Pretty Little Things" is exactly what it says: a little silvereye perched on a jug overflowing with proteas, hydrangeas and garden blooms, all set against the softest teal. I love how much is happening in one small frame, and how it rewards a second and third look.

It arrives as a notecard in a natural wooden box frame, in five colourways: black, cream, euro (light oak), metallic and white. Swipe through to see each one.

Happy Labour Weekend, New Zealand 💛

Whatever your long weekend looks like this year, I hope it's a slow one. A sleep-in. A second coffee. The garden finally getting some attention, the beach if you're lucky, or a road trip with the family in the car and someone asking if we're there yet.

This is Wharekaho, up in the Coromandel. Two blue chairs, a deck, and that view. Exactly the kind of spot these long weekends were made for.

Labour Weekend always feels like the real start of summer here, and I love that it's a whole country pausing at once.

I’ve always loved art that carries a little history with it. Marika Jones’s “Gone But Not Forgotten” series remembers the Huia, Moa, Pink & White Terraces and Rainbow Warrior in beautifully vintage-style commemorative artwork. Meet the kererū flock by New Zealand maker Crystal Ashley 💚💜

With their iridescent purple-green plumage and beautiful flight poses, these native birds bring a real sense of Aotearoa to the wall.
