Cyclone Chido hit Mayotte in December 2024 with winds over 220 km/h. For anyone running Starlink Mini on a yacht, a 4x4, or a caravan, that's not just a headline, it's the kind of conditions your gear actually has to survive.

We commissioned CFD and FEA engineering simulations to find out whether our Mini mount could hold up to Category 5 hurricane wind loads. The results are in the blog.

Running Starlink Gen 3 through PoE? One cable gauge choice can be the difference between a clean install and a callback six months later.

We commissioned a full electrical engineering report to find out exactly how far you can run Cat6A before voltage drop becomes a problem, and the answer depends on more than just distance.

Full breakdown on the blog.

Most people choose their Starlink pole length based on what clears the roofline, or whatever's sitting in the garage.
Turns out that's the single biggest mistake you can make.
We ran the engineering numbers on pole lengths from 300mm right up to 3,000mm under 248 km/h wind conditions, and the results aren't close. One length performed well. The other was a genuine structural risk.

Got a fibreglass roof on your campervan, motorhome, or fleet vehicle? Drilling through it for Starlink is risky and expensive if it goes wrong. We put a no-drill bonding method to the test at 275 km/h across three wind directions to see if it would actually hold. A Factor of Safety of 31.7 later, we have our answer.

Most protective covers are sold on the claim that polycarbonate is tough. We wanted an actual answer, not a marketing line.
We commissioned a Finite Element Analysis simulation of a real hailstone strike on our AVS Starlink Mini Outdoor Protective Cover to find out exactly what happens at the moment of impact.

Most Starlink mounts ship with zero structural data. No wind testing. No engineering analysis. Just a product on a shelf.
We took a different approach with the AVS Starlink Gen 3 Clip-In Pole Adapter. CFD wind load simulation. FEA structural analysis. Real numbers, real wind conditions.

Most people fitting Starlink Mini to a vehicle roof without drilling assume magnets will hold. The number of magnets matters more than you might think.
We put both configurations through ANSYS engineering simulation at 178 km/h wind loads to find out which one actually holds and which one does not.
The results are on the blog: https://www.airvisionsystems.co.nz/magnetic-starlink-mount-speed/

When Cyclone Chido devastated Mayotte in December 2024, it raised a question every Starlink owner in a storm-prone region should be asking.
Would your mount survive it?
We commissioned a full CFD and FEA structural engineering analysis of the AVS Starlink Gen 3 Mount and put it through conditions most mounts will never face.
Find out how it performed: https://www.airvisionsystems.co.nz/starlink-gen-3-mount-wind-rating/

Tired of compatibility headaches with generic power stations and Starlink Mini?
Wrong port. Wrong cable. Wrong voltage. It all adds up to a dish that drops out when you need it most.
We built the AVS Starlink Mini Portable Power Supply to fix that. 19V output matched directly to Starlink Mini, 380mm cable included, no converters, no compatibility checks. Plug it in and it works.
4 to 5 hours of runtime on a single charge. Charges in 1 to 1.5 hours from any standard power outlet.
Perfect for campers, overlanders, boaties, and anyone who needs reliable Starlink Mini connectivity off-grid.
