Pffff, things looked a bit grim over the weekend with a big run on hay and no chance to restock due to the weather. Down to the last 5 bales. And this morning the sun broke out, so we're good again.

Feeling positive and we've parked up the rain gauges, so the boys can use them again on building sites.😝
If you're thinking of having a workout in the garden, we have a good supply of pea straw at the moment but supplies will be getting tight. That's why we have also started again with medium squares ( equivalent to 12-14 bales) Way more economical if you're needing a lot. Sturdy trailer required and we can put it on.
Plenty of barley straw and Lucerne hay available.....for now. Depending on what El Nino ( Spanish for " The little boy") has in store. 😵‍💫
Adversity builds character. Coasters are good at that.😍

Bit of education here:
If you're calving or lambing or kidding..... or any mamal it's vital that the newborn gets colostrum.
All farmers and most us know that. What's also important is they're getting it in the first 24 hours. Apart from being highly nutritious, it gives newborns the immune protection they need until they build their own system. Simply speaking: the stomach has perforations that can direct the immune bits straight into the bloodstream. After that they close up.
As a child we would feast on it in early spring calving as gently heating it to about 65 degrees Celsius and then cooling it turns it into an a creamy desert.
So if you have any, I'd love to get hold of some. Not quite sure if it's legal though.🙃

Goooood morning. Just to let you know that at Paroa Stockfeed we now also have a good supply of Red clover mix hay. $22.- a bale.
And if you have chickens, don't forget: Weston Free Range pellets with 19% protein are not only the best, but at $37.50 for 25 kg also the cheapest. And get a bag of 25kg of wheat as a combo for $66.- and your purse will thank you. Cheers Dirk. 🙂

Hope all is going well so far this year. Just to let you know that we've got another lot of brown shaver chicks 2 days ago. So if you have a broody hen or brooder and want some great laying chickens, come and get them tomorrow (Saturday). Best of all, they're all hens.
