Even those from Apokolips enjoy the zestiness of ranch dip!
..also not at all surprised that Darkseid is a double dipper. 🥕
Scott Free and Big Barda travel to Apokolips to meet with Darkseid. They bring their baby son, Jacob, because Darkseid demanded the child in exchange for peace between their worlds.
When they arrive in the throne room, Darkseid casually eats from a veggie tray that Scott brought along. To prove he is honoring the agreement, Darkseid painfully tears out his own left eye so he can no longer use his Omega Beams. Barda then crushes the eye to finalize the trade.
Moments later, the situation turns violent. Barda opens fire on Darkseid with a heavy weapon while Scott holds their son. The attack only temporarily staggers the tyrant, who quickly overpowers Barda and beats Scott mercilessly while he tries to protect the baby.
As Scott lies defeated on the floor, Barda urges him to get back up. Scott grabs a knife from the spilled vegetable tray and repeatedly stabs Darkseid, killing him.
Near the end of the issue, Metron appears to Scott and tells him that he has conquered fear and death, but notes that he is not in the right world before showing a vision of classic DC heroes.
