Oliver Tree tragically died at age 32 on June 14, 2026, in a mid-air helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was on a world tour at the time of the crash.
The incident occurred on a Sunday morning when two helicopters collided in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes area, a southwest zone of Rio de Janeiro. According to reports from CNN Brazil and the Associated Press, six people were killed in total, including Tree and Argentine YouTuber Gaspar "Gaspi" Prim Díaz.
Details of the Accident
Collision: Two helicopters collided 300 feet above the city. One aircraft, a Bell 206B JetRanger III carrying Tree and four others, crashed into a PR-DJJ aircraft piloted by Charles Marsillac.
Crash Site: One of the helicopters fell into an electric car dealership parking lot, sparking a fire that consumed approximately 20 vehicles.
Fatalities: There were no survivors. The identified victims included:
• Oliver Tree Nickell: Musician and director.
• Gaspar Prim Díaz (Gaspi): Argentine influencer.
• Lucas Vignale & Lucas Brito Chaves: Passengers.
• Alexandre Souza & Charles Marsillac: Pilots.
Final Days and Tributes
• Prior to the crash, Tree had been documenting his first trip to Brazil on social media, including a final performance in São Paulo on June 6. He was in the middle of his "World's First World Tour" and was next scheduled to perform in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 1, 2026.
Authorities in Rio de Janeiro have launched an investigation into the cause of the mid-air collision.
