❤️ Something very near & dear to my heart…
Some of you may have seen the pamphlets for the Micah 6:8 Project at our Farmstand, but I thought it was time for a quick introduction—and to share why this project matters so much to me.
Life here can be pretty smooth sailing. We have food in our pantry. We turn on the faucet and clean water comes out. Our kids have the opportunity to go to school. When we’re sick, we can seek medical care.
And because those things are part of our everyday lives, it’s easy to forget that they aren’t a reality for everyone.
Did you know child slavery is STILL happening today?
In Yeji, Africa, children are being sold into slavery. Children who should be learning, playing, growing, and dreaming about their futures are instead being forced into circumstances they never chose.
The Micah 6:8 Project is working to change that.
They provide children with education, healthcare, food, and clean water. They provide mothers with vocational training so they can build a way to support their families. They help fathers find opportunities outside of fishing. And they dig wells so entire communities can have access to clean water. 💧
And then I found out something that stopped me in my tracks…
A child can be sponsored for just $40 a month.
$40.
We can spend $40 without thinking much about it.
A couple of meals out.
A few trips through the drive-thru.
A trip to the store where we somehow spend $40 on things we didn’t even plan to buy. 😅
But for a child who has so little…
$40 can mean opportunity.
It can mean education.
It can mean healthcare.
It can mean food.
It can mean clean water.
It can mean hope.
And ultimately, it can mean a child has the opportunity to grow up with a future that looks very different from the one they were facing.
I know we can’t fix every problem in the world. But I’ve always believed that if we each do something, we can make a difference in someone’s world.
So, if you’ve seen those little pamphlets sitting at our Farmstand and wondered what they were about…
Now you know. ❤️
If you’d like to learn more about sponsoring a child or supporting the Micah 6:8 Project, stop by the Farmstand and grab a pamphlet.
Sometimes $40 doesn’t feel like much.
Until you realize what it can mean to someone else. ❤️
