Running a small business is hard...and I love what I do. I truly do, but it's late nights, early mornings, missed family time, the messages answered after hours, the problem-solving no one ever sees, and the heart that's poured into every single order. Every design represents someone trusting me with something that matters to them.
I also know times are tough, budgets are tight. Most families are stretching every dollar, and I understand that completely. I even work a part-time job because, like so many others, I'm doing everything I can to keep this dream going.
When COVID happened, custom apparel exploded. Suddenly, everyone knew someone with a Cricut making shirts. I don't blame anyone for trying to earn extra income and support their families. I truly don't.
But there is a difference between making shirts and running a business.
Behind every order are business licenses, taxes, equipment, software, insurance, supplies, maintenance, packaging, design time, continuing education, and countless hours that most people never see. When shirts are sold for prices that barely cover the material, there simply isn't enough left to sustain a full-time small business.
So if you ever find yourself deciding between the business you've worked with for years and someone offering it cheaper, I just hope you'll remember one thing:
To me, you're never "just another customer."
You're helping put food on my family's table. You're helping pay the bills that keep this business open. You're allowing me to support local schools, teams, fundraisers, and our community. You're helping keep a dream alive.
And I never take that for granted.
In return, I'll continue giving you my very best. Every design. Every shirt. Every order. Every single time.
Thank you to every family, school, team, business, and organization that continues to choose Charred Threads/Jess Lynn Creations. Your support means more than you probably realize, and I'm grateful for every opportunity to create something meaningful for you.
..And yes, I'll always do my best to make sure the extra swag is pretty awesome too. π
