A look inside a hive. The emerging bees in this video are like super-bees! Instead of only living for 4-6 weeks, these bees will actually overwinter and hopefully carry the hive into the spring! Enjoy

Probably the last hummingbird I'll see this year. Just like the tourist leave the county, so does our local population of hummingbirds. Yet for the past few weeks we've still been getting the migrants coming from the north. So make sure to maintain the plants they've been hitting or if you have a feeder, keep it out for another week or so to give them the resources they need. AND THEN WE GET TO LOOK FORWARD TO THEIR RETURN!!!!

QUESTION: Does anyone know any of the administrators for "Overheard in Leelanau County"?? For whatever reason, they never approve my useful, very selective (always pertaining to our ONSITE farming) and seldom posts on their site. Yet, they approve lavender farms, strawberries, sourdough and people selling pumpkins that aren't even growing them, politics and all the other random nonsense etc. People have been asking for honey for the past 3 months and now I have it but can't post it.
Your help is appreciated!!! Thanks, Jason

Custom seed packs. I originally posted a video for "plant of the week" a couple of months ago using these custom seed packs. Well, I thought I'd share with you how they turned out! Pretty cool eh? Thanks!

Bee's AMAZE me!! So this is a look at a somewhat empty frame from a honey super on a beehive. The bees are making comb in this picture, (which they need to store their honey in), but the way they do it is just so FASCINATING!! They literally form a "Bee-Chain" to pass wax from 1 wire to the next in order to create some kind of foundation to build upon. I mean look how they hold hands!! Always amazed at their hard work!
