Mist and fog became a recurring thread throughout this recent series of encaustic paintings. There is something about that veil that softens the landscape without obscuring its power or interest, if anything, it intensifies my connection to it. In each work I am exploring how to communicate these moments, as if they were hazy memories that have made imprints in my mind, but I can’t full translate them. Instead, they are the essence of calm, a veil of mist, a trace of botanical - using a palette of soft blues, greens, whites and gray to reflect the peace I feel when reflecting on those moments.” - Liberty

Mothers would embroider butterflies on their child’s clothing to ensure the baby would have peaceful sleep and beautiful dreams.
