By gathering these items we can shrink the amount of one person’s trash and bring joy to another person as treasure. We are then able to provide much needed funds to organizations in our communities.
10 plus years ago, I noticed the amount of items that seemed to making its way into local dumpsters that were in perfect, usable condition or that could be upcycled ( i.e. taking something old, worn,
and making it new by revamping it into something different and usable.). Having been a single mom for 8 years, I personally understood how hard times could get and how much a chair to sit on can be appreciated by someone who may work hard, yet find they could only pay the bills and keep food on the table. My initial idea was to gather items at the end of garage sales, the over flow from local thrift shops, and the endless supply of spring cleaning adventures, in one building and offer them to the needy in our communities for free. After several months of my new adventure and feet pounding the sidewalks (my head sometimes too) trying to find donations to help with the cost of warehouse rent, utilities, fuel, etc., I opted for a new plan as plan A just wasn't working. Plan B
Plan B took shape in the form of opening a physical store (the same month I was married, yes, call me crazy as that also meant moving that month) which has been in business for approx. 9 years and has expanded beyond my dreams. What was once the home of only off cast items has now become the home to gently used items, as-well-as a boutique quality gifts and upcycled creations. Now we are moving on to Plan C..... NOT because plan B failed but because we want to expand..... and adding an online presence. We found that we have some items that we would love to offer to a larger buyer base. If you would like to hope on board with us we would love to have you help us give an item a Second Chance at life.
