SuperMotocross is taking over Historic Crew Stadium this weekend.

For the first time, Columbus is hosting the opening round of the Monster Energy SuperMotocross World Championship Playoffs on Saturday, September 12, bringing some of the best riders in the world to town.

There’s also FanFest on Friday and Saturday with rider meet-and-greets, practice, bikes, live entertainment, BMX action and plenty happening around the stadium.

If you’re looking for something a little different to do this weekend, this should be a fun one.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or the official SuperMotocross website.

THE OHIO BEAVER WAR IS GETTING SERIOUS.

Buc-ee’s is suing Beaver’s Mini Mart in Beavercreek, arguing the small store’s smiling beaver logo is too similar to its trademarked mascot.

The comparison is getting plenty of attention because Beaver’s Mini Mart is a neighborhood convenience store that doesn’t even sell gas. Buc-ee’s new Huber Heights location sits about 16 miles away in a different city, covers roughly 74,000 square feet, and has more than 100 gas pumps, 700 parking spaces and 24 EV chargers.

Even Gov. Mike DeWine has jumped in, calling the lawsuit “ridiculous” and saying Buc-ee’s should drop it.

His other point was pretty simple: “It is Beavercreek, for heaven’s sake.”

Buc-ee’s says it is protecting its trademark. Beaver’s Mini Mart is fighting back.

And for now, Ohio seems pretty firmly on Team Small Beaver.

Ohio was just named the No. 1 state for business by CNBC.

So naturally, U.S. News just ranked us the 42nd-best state in America overall.

Love that for us.

The ranking looks at 71 metrics across health care, education, economy, infrastructure, opportunity, fiscal stability, crime and the environment.

Meanwhile, Utah ranked No. 1 for the fourth straight year, finishing near the top in economy, infrastructure, education and fiscal stability.

So is Ohio thriving or struggling?

Apparently that depends entirely on who made the list this week.

Give it a few days and we’ll probably be ranked No. 3 for gas station snacks and No. 47 for emotional stability.

AEP Ohio , explain this math to us like we’re 5?

July 2025: 1,241 kWh = $100.12
June 2026: 1,196 kWh = $238.68

This customer used 45 fewer kWh and somehow paid $138.56 more.

That’s about 4% less electricity for a bill that’s 138% higher.

Columbus, anybody else seeing this on their AEP bill?

Columbus Police currently operates 65 Flock cameras, with 11 more planned.

Across Franklin County, nearly 600 automated license plate readers have been mapped.

A recent audit also identified 15,577 searches potentially tied to immigration enforcement. Of those, 20 were conducted by Columbus Police, while the rest came from outside agencies accessing the network.

The cameras capture license plates, vehicle details, location and time, creating a searchable record law enforcement can use during investigations.

Supporters argue the system helps find stolen cars and suspects faster. Critics are focused on privacy, data sharing and how much access outside agencies should have.

Now Columbus City Council is considering tighter rules around how Flock data can be searched, stored and shared.
