Reposting from Navajo Nation EPA:
“The Shiprock Wastewater Treatment Plant is fully submerged due to rising San Juan River levels overnight.
The Navajo Nation Utility Authority attempted to mitigate the situation yesterday by stopping discharge and diverting wastewater to the emergency lagoon. However, rising water levels have submerged the entire facility, resulting in raw wastewater leaking into the San Juan River. NTUA personnel have evacuated the area for their safety.
Please check the NTUA page for the latest information. We will post additional updates as they become available.“
