Finished this arched top guitar last week. Engelmann spruce and flamed Claro walnut. Really nice top - enlarge and you can see all of the cross grained “silk” in the top which indicates stiffness. Pickguard matches the flamed Claro back & sides in a natural gloss finish - no stain here!

Randy Clepper Music was in the shop today to pick up two of his instruments left for service. The video below shows Randy playing an Irish Bouzouki that I finished for him in Dec ‘21 - European Spruce with Honduran Rosewood back and sides. His other instrument is a Cedar Top, Madagascar Rosewood Bouzouki that I made 15 years ago. Unlike the other instrument, the European spruce is combined with the densest, most reflective of Rosewoods and yields a bright, clear tone while the cedar and Madagascar has a deeper melow sound.
