Firesong is a handweaving studio and yarn shop located on a farm in Schellsburg, Pennsylvania. The shop has quality handwoven and hand-knitted items for body and home, unique jewelry and gift items, and a large selection of custom dyed and handspun yarns and fibers.

I picked this up on my travels. It is a beautifully done record of many of the sources of natural dyes used in the southwest. And while at Centinela Weaving, Irvin Trujillo took me on a tour of their dye studio where I got to see some of these in use!

Traveling is wonderful but it's good to be home and doing some weaving again.
I planned to do these towels all in twills but I like the elegant simplicity of plain weave in linen and cotton.

It's a sweater almost...
I always think I'm going to get more done traveling than I ever do. This probably would have been complete if I hadn't redone half a sleeve, but it's almost finished!

This is part of the "rug room" at Cameron Trading Post. So nice to see all the Navajo rugs both for sale here and also displayed all around the post, both old and new.

I had no intention to get any Navajo weaving on this trip. But we stopped at a local museum, received a tour by the owner, and guess what? Ended up with a small piece woven by someone in the Begay family. Beautifully woven and great thing is all goes to weaver and museum...

One more project planning post....
Which solid color should I use--dark teal or the green--in combination with the hand dyed in the middle? They will be knit with both yarns together. (The hand dyed is very rich and has a bit more green than photo shows)

A combination of my hand dyed silks I am going to use together for a top. Can you tell I'm planning some projects for winter?

I've been saving these just because I liked the colors. Finally decided to use them knitted together to make a knit "jacket"
for winter.
