Tatiana Țîbuleac and Monica Cure joined Deep Vellum and The Wild Detectives for the Dallas stop on their U.S. book tour for THE SUMMER MY MOTHER HAD GREEN EYES.

We still can’t get over the beautiful energy present in the room last Thursday night. .tibuleac and .v.cure brought such depth and insight to their discussion of the themes of grief and intergenerational understanding at play in the book, and moderator guided a thoughtful conversation on publishing a translated work.

Thank you to the for making this tour possible, and for everyone who came out on Thursday night to celebrate this resonant piece of literature.

We are still thinking about all of the ways UNDEAD grapples with the task of living on the other side of death. Madeline Vosch and Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles in conversation was truly a special night at Deep Vellum. It truly underscored the ways in which texts, both spiritual and literary, are part of shaping and deconstructing our relationship with existence.

Come pick up your copy of Vosch’s powerful memoir at the store!

BOOK LAUNCH
Join us in celebrating the book launch of RABBIT, FOX, TAR () the debut novel from Dallas author P.C. Verrone. .the.carroll will be joined in conversation by , an artist, educator, historian and futurist whose work brings historical context to issues of race and place.

Described as a “mesmerizing, fable-like novel about a mysterious young Black woman whose arrival in an insular neighborhood threatens to shake its foundations,” RABBIT, FOX, TAR brings readers into a community still grappling with the reverberating consequences of a highway project that leveled a Black neighborhood decades prior.

The evening will begin with a screening of Alan Govenar’s short film, DEEP ELLUM BLUES (1985), which explores night life in Deep Ellum in the early 20th century, prior to the construction of the Central Expressway which severed the neighborhood.

We will see you on Tuesday, June 2 at 7:00 PM! Details at link it bio.

HANIF + JAMILA + DEEP VELLUM!

Deep Vellum is pleased to announce Hanif Abdurraqib and Jamila Woods as the headliner artists for the Deep Vellum Music & Literature Festival.

Hanif Abdurraqib is an award-winning poet, essayist, and cultural critic from Columbus, Ohio, whose newest release, There’s Always This Year: On Basketball and Ascension (Random House, 2024) was the winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award for Criticism.

Jamila Woods is a musician, award-winning poet, and multidisciplinary artist from the South Side of Chicago, whose work often blurs boundaries between poem and song. Her most recent album, Water Made Us, is a genre-blending song cycle on love and the wisdom of surrender.
