In Loving Memory of Sherri Tiessi “The Plushie Baroness”
This week we said goodbye to our dear friend Sherri Tiessi (of Sherrit Design ) — a creator, a craftswoman, an activist, an artist, and a bright, passionate soul who left this world far too soon.
Sherri didn’t just make things — she brought creatures to life. Plushies, pins, jewelry, tiny beings with huge personalities. Her work carried her spirit: vibrant, whimsical, full of heart. From the moment Melissa Panszi Riebe of introduced us, we became fast friends. Jane, Dollie, and I knew instantly that she would become an important part of our lives and of the Rivertowns community.
For the last 2 years, we’ve been honored to carry Sherri’s creations at watching people light up when they held one of her plushies… that was her magic. She brought joy into the hands of kids, families, collectors, and anyone who needed a little spark of happiness. She made Dobbs Ferry brighter.
Cancer took her from us too soon, but her love, her fire, her wit, and her creativity will live on here. We’ll be dedicating a small section of Hi There! to Sherri — a permanent display of her work, her imagination, and the joy she gave so freely. A place to remember her, celebrate her, and keep her spirit close.
Every time she walked through our door with new creations, we all smiled just a little wider. Thank you for being such a light in our lives — and for touching so many people around you.
Rest in peace, Plushie Baroness. Your magic lives on!!
