I sat down with Smash House co-owner Jon Kerley to talk about the work behind building a local business. The decisions, leases, loan paperwork, construction, staffing, setbacks, and help from other people that customers never see.
Smash House grew from backyard Blackstones and pop-ups to Shepherd’s Old Field Market and eventually a full restaurant in downtown Leonardtown.
Starting a business always looks a little cleaner once the sign is mounted and the doors are open. The road getting there is another story.
