✨ Meet Abbey Ishman, founder of Mix Candle Co in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ✨
Mix Candle Co is a create-your-own fragrance bar where scent, creativity, and connection come together. Across two Pittsburgh locations, Abbey and her team of 20 Scent Consultants help guests blend from more than 100 fragrances, choose from 50+ candle jars, and create a scent that’s completely their own. 🕯️✨
Abbey’s passion for fragrance began while working for small candle businesses early in her career. After moving to Pittsburgh, she decided to turn that passion into something of her own, opening Mix Candle Co in 2017.
“From the beginning, my goal was to create a welcoming, inclusive space where people could gather, celebrate life's milestones, and make lasting memories through fragrance.”
That experience has continued to grow. In 2025, Mix Candle Co opened a Perfume Bar where guests can create their own signature scent, and many CandleScience fragrances, including Gilded Mandarin, Amber Element, and Leather & Labdanum, have become guest favorites. ✨
One of Abbey’s proudest accomplishments is an ongoing collaboration with Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. With Mix Candle Co’s newest shop located next door to Fred Rogers Productions, the team created a four-fragrance collection celebrating kindness, community, and what it means to be a good neighbor. ❤️
