Have you ever read a book that completely devastated you… but somehow, once you recovered, you felt soul-cleansed by it? That’s what The Bright Years did to me. Was it an easy read? Absolutely not. Was it filled with raw human emotion, heartbreak, and painfully honest poor life choices? Definitely yes. And that’s exactly why I loved and appreciated it.
