One year ago today, I opened the doors to Candy Connection.
But if I’m being honest, I think I was hoping to build something bigger than a candy store.
After years of candy trucks, I wanted to create a place people would come back to.
The place you asked to go on your birthday.
The stop after the doctor because you earned a treat.
The place grandparents bring their grandkids.
The place that becomes part of someone’s childhood memories.
And somewhere along the way… it happened!!
What started as an empty space and an idea became familiar faces, celebrations, traditions, friendships, and so many kids who now run through the door and call me their bestie.
This year I wore every hat imaginable. Owner, buyer, merchandiser, cleaner, boss, problem solver, mom and for once, I’m allowing myself to feel proud.
Because this year wasn’t really about building a candy store, it was about building a place people wanted to come back to.
And maybe years from now someone will say, “Remember that candy store?” and smile.
That would mean everything.
Happy one year, Candy Connection 🤍
