💫 It's Festival Friday! 💫
Today we revisit the cigar box guitars played by headliner Grammy-winner Gary Nichols from this year's World's Longest-Running Cigar Box Guitar Festival - Huntsville, Alabama. Gary played with The FAME Gang of FAME Recording Studios & Publishing Co. on the main at The Orion Amphitheater in an intimate concert where the audience was also seated on stage. He showcased his 40 years of guitar-playing experience by demonstrating what one can do with just three strings. You never know who will stop in during lessons. Recently Shaun Ferguson dropped in and our beginner students got to play rhythm guitar with this pro! We always tell folks that they just need to know some basics to be able to play with anyone and have fun. Thanks for demonstrating that Shaun!

It's a new school year and school arts programs are growing! Got a spare instrument that isn't being used? Drop it off with us in Studio 106 at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment for the school instrument drive organized by the Huntsville Music Office. They need new reeds and mouthpieces as well as gently used: Cellos, Clarinets, Cymbals, Drums (snare, bass), Flutes, Guitars, Saxophones, Trombones, Trumpets, Tubas, Violins and Violas...Got another type of instrument? Bring it by and we'll find it a good home! Drop off your items to us Weds.-Fri. 1-5 and Sat. 11-6.

Listening to cigar box guitar music was far from the only thing to do at this year's World's Longest-Running Cigar Box Guitar Festival - Huntsville, Alabama! Today we revisit scenes from Saturday at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment where Jeff hosted two different builder's seminars at Ravenwood Meadery, the documentary "Songs Inside The Box" was screened at The Independent, the silent auction of art guitars was on display outside Irons One Distillery's upcoming location and free CBG lessons were conducted inside the connector space. Best of all, everything was indoors so the pop-up storm didn't cramp anybody's style! Save the date for next year's Festival: June 4-6, 2027 and sign up for updates at CigarBoxGuitarFestival.com

At every Huntsville City FC home game, a guest musician plays “the riff”—a quick musical snippet of their choosing on HCFC’s Man of the Match guitar.

It's Back to School week here in Huntsville, so it seemed the perfect time to have the youngest "riffer" ever take on the task. Here's Andrew--an 8th grader who is not only a CBG fan, he also loves soccer. Way to go Andrew!
