She grew up listening to stories about her grandmother delivering all 15 babies at home and how her mother, Azizi's great-grandmother, caught her babies and served as a midwife in her community. Azizi's grandmother shared how herbs native to Lafayette were used in teas and such to heal mothers after birth. These stories led Azizi to train as a doula in 2013 and also to learn how to make body butte
rs and salves that can make a new mother feel comforted. Azizi, her son and husband started showing up at small events like a modeling show, local music shows and outdoor bars to sell their wares. Azizi's skincare is cruelty-free and mostly plant-based. Each body butter and lotion is made slowly by hand in small batches to ensure freshness and quality. We use organic Shea butter and other natural raw butters, vegan micas, botanical extracts and organic herbs.
