What started as a backyard operation selling Grumman aluminum canoes was followed by our first real store in a 400 square foot Acadian house on the banks of the Vermillion river in 1974. Today, Pack & Paddle has grown to over 6,000 square feet, housing excellent brands of outdoor equipment for all types of self propelled outdoor activities. We specialize in rock climbing, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, kayak fishing, family camping and much more.

Some of the best days on the water aren’t about how many fish you catch - they’re about who you’re sharing them with.

Pack & Paddle Fishing Team member Ryan Alleman and his son Finn recently got out on the water for a little Louisiana fishing, and Finn came prepared to make a memory. A good fish, a beautiful sunset, and time together in a kayak… that’s what getting outside is all about.

There’s something pretty special about watching the next generation discover the magic of fishing and the wild places we’re lucky enough to have right here in Louisiana.

There’s something special about being on the water in Louisiana.

Picture no motor. No rush. Just the quiet rhythm of a pedal drive, the sound of water moving around the hull, and miles of cypress, sky, and open water unfolding around you.

You can slip into places a boat can’t, fish in the stillness, and watch the landscape change as the sun makes its way across the sky. Then, when the day is done, pedal your way home beneath a Louisiana sunset.

Sometimes the best part of the catch is simply getting there. 🛶🎣🌅

As a small business, we’ll be the first to admit—we can’t always keep up with every sale, promotion, flash deal, and “only today!” email floating around the internet.

Sometimes we forget just how beautiful Louisiana can be. ❤️‍🔥

Lake Martin has a way of reminding you.

At sunset, the cypress trees rise from the water like old sentinels, draped in Spanish moss and silhouetted against a sky that seems to stretch forever. The still water catches every shade of orange, gold, purple, and blue, turning the lake into a reflection of the evening sky.

No mountains. No grand vistas. Just cypress, water, wildlife, and a Louisiana sunset doing what Louisiana sunsets do best.

It’s easy to overlook the beauty in our own backyard. Sometimes you just have to slow down, get on the water, and look around.

Louisiana is pretty damn beautiful. 🌅🌿🛶
