Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated.

Whimsical, Yet Utterly Sophisticated: The “Traccia” Table by Meret Oppenheim for Cassina, Italy

Part functional furniture, part sculptural objet d’art, the iconic *Traccia* table by surrealist artist Meret Oppenheim is a masterclass in unexpected design. Its gold-leafed top, imprinted with delicate bird-foot tracks, rests upon two polished bronze legs sculpted in the unmistakable form of ostrich legs.

Playful yet undeniably refined, the table blurs the line between art and design, transforming an everyday object into a conversation piece. Whether placed beside a sofa, anchoring a carefully curated vignette, or standing on its own, the *Traccia* commands attention with its distinctive silhouette and surrealist charm.

More than a side table, it’s a work of art—one that brings a touch of wit, glamour, and artistic irreverence to any interior.

It’s taken longer than I expected, but by the end of the year, my Airbnb will be back up 100% and renting to a lot of old faces and many new ones to come. The most rented Airbnb in Los Angeles is now the best suite spot!

A truly exceptional pair of French Empire, Louis XVI-style side chairs, distinguished by their sculptural carving, unusual details, and beautifully aged hand finish.

What initially caught my attention was the extraordinary Aztec-inspired upholstery. My instinct would normally be to reupholster a pair like this—perhaps in a sumptuous black lambskin—but the more I look at this fabric, the more I appreciate its unexpected character. There is something wonderfully sophisticated about the contrast between the exotic textile and the classical form of the chairs.

The carved details are particularly beautiful, enhanced by a softly whitewashed hand finish that gives the wood an incredible sense of age and depth. Most remarkable, however, are the delicately carved female faces incorporated into the ends of each arm. It is this kind of unexpected detail that makes a piece truly memorable and separates it from the ordinary.

They would be spectacular left exactly as they are, or imagine them reupholstered in rich black lambskin for a much more dramatic, contemporary interpretation.

For collectors, designers, and anyone looking for something genuinely distinctive, this is a very special pair.

Please feel free to DM me with any questions. You can also visit **Darren Ransdell Design**, which will take you directly to my 1stDibs collection, where I have more than 1,000 pieces available.

This version leans more toward **luxury collector / interior designer language**, emphasizing rarity, craftsmanship, and the story behind the piece rather than simply describing it.

Today I’d like to share two very special table mirrors from my collection on 1stDibs .

The first is a beautiful solid brass mirror, featuring a normal reflection on one side and high magnification on the opposing side. It is adjustable up and down for height, making it both elegant and practical. It would be a beautiful addition to a vanity, dressing room, or bedroom.

The second is a wonderful 19th-century George III mirror, crafted from beautifully detailed mahogany. It features a large mirror, originally ideal for shaving, along with exquisite details and a magnifying mirror that flips from the back to the front — perfect for those little details you want to be sure not to miss.

Both mirrors are truly special pieces, combining beauty, craftsmanship, and functionality.

I have approximately 8–10 beautiful table mirrors available on my 1stDibs page today, so if you’d like to see more, visit 1stDibs.com and simply type my name +mirrors” into the search.

Feel free to DM me here or message me directly through 1stDibs. I’d be delighted to help you find the perfect mirror.

A striking architectural bar cart featuring a streamlined design and beautiful tessellated stone detailing. The cart has two shelves: a substantial stone lower shelf and a 1-inch beveled glass top, creating an elegant combination of texture and transparency.

Compact enough to tuck away when not in use and mounted on wheels for easy mobility, this versatile piece would make a sophisticated addition to a bar, living room, dining area—or even a bathroom for storing towels, bath salts, lotions, and other essentials.
