Why does ThreadCycle only open to the community once a month?
Our pop-up model is a big part of how we keep our prices so low. Here’s a little of what happens behind the scenes.
ThreadCycle’s primary business is wholesale. We supply quality used clothing at extremely low prices to resellers, brick-and-mortar stores, charitable and nongovernmental organizations, and other groups that need affordable clothing in volume.
Right now, we bring in more clothing than our wholesale customers purchase in a month. Our monthly pop-ups help us keep that inventory moving while giving local families access to those same wholesale savings. It makes room for incoming clothing and helps your clothing budget go further.
Operating this way also keeps our expenses down. A traditional retail store needs a location priced for everyday shopping and staff covering business hours throughout the week. Our wholesale operation lets us use lower-cost space and avoid the added expense of staffing a retail sales floor every day. Those costs would otherwise have to be covered by the price of our clothing.
Our focus is straightforward: provide quality clothing at the lowest prices we sustainably can. Our sales support the clothing operation itself, without also needing to fund separate charitable programs or the overhead that comes with them.
We’re also a family-owned business. We don’t have outside investors, a pool of extra money, or financial donations covering our bills. Every decision has to make sense, and every dollar has a job.
That’s why you’ll find simple bins and a practical setup. We operate lean, without fancy equipment or expensive fixtures, and we’ve kept the business debt-free. Keeping those expenses out of our budget helps keep our prices within yours.
Our monthly pop-ups bring all of that together: clothing that needs a new home, families looking for affordable options, and a small local business working hard to make it possible.
Thank you for making ThreadCycle part of your month. Every purchase helps us keep the clothing moving and the savings coming.
