In Spiritualism's Place, four friends and scholars who produce the acclaimed Dig: A History Podcast, share their curiosity and enthusiasm for uncovering stories from the past as they explore the history of Lily Dale. Three of these fabulous historians will be at Author's Note on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 6:30 pm for discussion and book signing!

Located in western New York State, Lily Dale was founded in 1879. It served as a home for Spiritualists seeking to contact the dead, a gathering place for reformers, a refuge for alternative thinkers, and a target for skeptics.

Podcasters and historians Averill Earls, Sarah Handley-Cousins, Elizabeth Garner Masarik, and Marissa C. Rhodes each examine a site in Lily Dale and a theme it reveals. Spiritualism’s Place challenges myths, uncovers overlooked stories, and reconsiders Spiritualism’s significance in American history.

Join us next Tuesday, June 16th at 6:30 pm at Author’s Note for an evening with graphic novel creators NIKI SMITH and KATIE RISOR!

Niki Smith will present Midsummer Sisters, about stepsisters Kenzie and Quinn, whose summer caring for a wild foal helps them cope with their parents’ possible divorce and changing family. Niki is an award-winning graphic novelist who now lives in Munich, Germany with her wife and two bilingual cats.

Katie Risor will share her Welcome to the Forest series, including The Lake Trip, where Mossman, Wallace, and friends embark on a lively lakeside adventure filled with surprises, friendship, and gentle humor. Her books feature simple text, cozy illustrations, and fun nonfiction elements for young readers. Risor, inspired by nature and whimsy, now lives in Syracuse, New York.

Author's Note is thrilled to welcome Newbery Medalist LINDA SUE PARK and New York Times besselling author GORDON KORMAN on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:30 pm for a special double-hitter event in conversation together at Author’s Note to discuss and sign copies of their new books, Just One Gift and Hypergifted.

Linda Sue Park, a renowned author of numerous picture books and novels for young readers, won the 2002 Newbery Medal winner for A Single Shard. In addition to writing essays for numerous publications, Linda Sue has served as a panelist for the National Book Award, the Kirkus Prize, the PEN Naylor grant, and the SCBWI Golden Kite Award.

Gordon Korman is the #1 NY Times bestselling author of more than 100 books for kids and young adults, most recently HYPERGIFTED and SNOOP. We’ll have four visiting authors:
✨ 10:30am-12pm: D. Allen, a.k.a. David Neth, author of heartfelt small-town romance, including his newest novel, This Time Around, a slow-burn, second-chance romance full of sharp banter, soft moments, and the one who almost got away—set in Fairport!
✨ 12pm-1:30pm: Children’s author Kate Hosford, signing her newest title, You and I are Stars And Night, which celebrates the love between children and their caregivers through a magical bedtime adventure. She’ll also have an event at Author’s Note on Friday, April 24th at 5pm.
✨ 1:30pm to 3pm: Edward Ashton, author of speculative fiction novels including Mickey 7 (now a movie!), Antimatter Blues, Mal Goes to War, The Fourth Consort, and his newest After the Fall, part alien invasion story, part buddy comedy, and part workplace satire.
✨ 3pm-4:30pm: Local author Wendi Pencille and her therapy dog, Crush, will sign her new board book, Crush Finds His Place, inspired by their work with children and adults with special needs.

KATE HOSFORD, a picture book author from Brooklyn, will be in Medina sharing her new book YOU AND I ARE STARS AND NIGHT at Author's Note on Friday, April 24th at 5 pm.

​Kate Hosford is the author of seven picture books, garnering awards such as an American Library Association Notable Book, a Bank Street Best Book of the Year, a Junior Library Guild Selection, and a New York Times Best Illustrated Book. Her books have been published in eight languages. She is a graduate of Amherst College and Vermont College of Fine Arts where she earned her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults. Kate lives in Brooklyn with her family.
