Our friend Ana Hebra Flaster dropped in to sign copies of her stirring memoir, Property of the Revolution, the story of her family's forced emigration from a Cuban barrio to a New Hampshire mill town.

When Ana was six years old, her working-class family was kicked out of their Havana barrio for opposing Fidel Castro's repressive communist regime. Castro's revolutionaries then sealed the door with a sign deeming their home "Property of the Revolution."

What followed was a harrowing forty-eight hour exodus that would haunt her family for generations. They'd lost their home, their country, and been separated from loved ones. Emerging from these tragedies is a story of hope and transformation, as they reclaimed their lives and freedom in 1967 New Hampshire.

Though her story started in Cuba, this chronicle of the immigrant experience is a quintessential New Hampshire story; that's why you'll find your signed copy on our New Hampshire stories display, along with many other stories set in the Granite State.

Thompson wrote the screenplay for the quintessential Lakes Region film On Golden Pond, and entered the world of prose fiction with his debut novel Book of Maps.

An Innisfree bookseller will be at the event selling copies of Ernest's new novel, Out Clause. Get your signed copy, chat with a noted author, and take a picture with his Oscar statue!
