I have so much gratitude towards the couples that I get to work with and last Saturday was no exception.

Ashley is one of the kindest and sweetest human beings and I know she and Steven are going to have a beautiful life together.

August weddings are becoming more and more popular and I am so happy to have been a part of this sweet couple’s day.
They had unique touches and details that were planned with so much love and Maggie’s flowers reflected her sweet & bubbly personality.

Guess what arrived in my mailbox this week?

The order form from where I source the greens for our wreath workshops.

That means it is time to start thinking about class dates and all of the fun things that go along with those Christmas classes.

Sharing in case you find yourself in the same spot!

I have been really guilty this summer of looking ahead and trying to figure out what I should be doing next season. So much so that I have completely lost touch with the present and how good things are right now.

I have been driving myself crazy with what to cut, what to keep, how much to grow, how many weddings to take on next year, profit/loss, all of the things that you don’t get to see behind the pretty flowers.

Sitting on the porch this morning I realized I need to let go and just enjoy today for what it is and the rest will take care of itself.

Saturday was magical and FUN!

Autumn and Brody finally had their moment to shine and the day went off without a hiccup.

I think if I could stress one thing to my couples and their families it would be to have fun on the wedding day.

I get it. It’s hard because you are spending a lot of money on one day and you want everything perfect.

Remember that your vendors do this week in and week out so enjoy the moments inside while everyone is getting ready and don’t stress over what is happening outside.

We will dry the chairs if it rains and snip out the wilted flowers if it’s 90 degrees with 100% humidity!

I sat down this afternoon to map out the next few weeks and it sunk in that my late summer and fall wedding calendar has me entering the doors of the same three venues week after week.

There is something comforting and rewarding when I think about that. I love that I have good relationships with these venues and they keep us on their vendor list. It really is fun to return to venues that begin to feel like home and takes the stress of the unknown out of the day.

Looking forward to an exciting fall wedding season with some of the best couples to date!
(I say that every year because I honestly get the best couples 😉). 🩷

Bouquet availability update for this week!

We are heading out of town at the end of the week. Bouquets are available East End Coffee Co. today (Tuesday) only and will not be in the shops this Friday (7/31).

The Dahlias are starting to shine and this week’s bouquets will let you choose between summer or fall color palettes! 🧡🧡

What kind of service do you get if you hire me for a full service wedding?

To simplify…everything except tear down & clean up.

I will deliver your flowers as early as needed.
Place the pocket squares/boutonnieres.
Build your custom arbor on site.
Check all flowers before you walk down the aisle.
Repurpose all ceremony florals to the reception.

You will have complete peace of mind knowing that your ceremony flowers are going to get placed correctly for the reception.
Peace of mind if a hydrangea wilts in the sun that I am there to replace it.
Peace of mind that if it rains before the ceremony I will get your flowers under cover to the best of my ability.
Peace of mind if the groom breaks his boutonnière because he was swinging his jacket around I am there to do the necessary surgery.
Can you tell this has all happened?

I also can’t recommend hiring a wedding planner or day of coordinator as well. When you hire a “team” that has worked together over multiple weddings you can be assured your day is going to go smoothly even when the unexpected pops up. Planners like B Events and Weddings to a T | Pennsylvania Wedding Planner will make sure that no detail goes left untouched!

Huge wedding tip for all brides and bridesmaids. Especially our summer brides!

Keep your flowers in water as much as possible.

I’ve kind of seen it all at this point. A dad sitting on a bridesmaid bouquet that she left lay on the chair, a photographer keeping the bride out for hours before the ceremony in 90+ degree heat, both her and her flowers were drained before she even reached the aisle.

I tell my couples (especially if I am not on site) to get the flowers back into water as soon as your pre ceremony photos are finished and let them rehydrate before it’s time for the walk down the aisle. Not all flowers are the same. Some will last for days out of water and others cause a lot of drama if they go without H2O.

The fall wedding season is getting ready for lift off and I thought before I get into the thick of it I would take some time to talk all things “weddings” this week.

10+ years in I’ve found some patterns and observations that may be helpful when planning for your flowers.

If you choose a florist who primarily focuses on using seasonal flowers and if a specific type of flower is important to you, do a little research to see if using that flower is an option before you set your date in stone. Even a traditional brick and mortar florist can have trouble getting certain flowers if they are “off” season.

I’ve had fall weddings that want Peonies & Ranunculus or early spring brides request Dahlias. As much as we try, it just isn’t going to happen. It’s kind of like trying to grow sweet corn so you can have corn on the cob at your April wedding (that’s a fun visual 😉).

Most brides we work with are 100% on board with using whatever looks best heading into their day as long as we work with the color palette but others have a favorite flower or one that has special meaning to them. If that is super important reach out and check with your florist before settling on your date!

I’ve said it before and will say it again. You will not be disappointed if you focus on what grows best during your wedding month!
