Labor Day weekend is here. Crowley will be open all weekend for your cheese buying needs. Galen will be at the Bennington Garlic Festival on Saturday Sept. 5th from 10-5 in downtown Bennington. No danger of Vampires at that festival. It will be garlic everywhere. 30+ YEARS OF FLAVOR

Had a visitor on Wednesday Dick Poalino of Rutland. He was telling me about how he used to buy the 23-pound wheels for his store. The California Fruit market that used to be on the corner of West and Pine. He talked very highly of Robert. He said that he died way to young. Which he in fact did. His store went through 2 wheels a month. He was here to buy a 5 # block his second block this month.
His comment was once you try Crowley you do not want anything else.
His conversation brought me back to thinking about people that brought milk to Crowley. I remember going up to our picture board. There was a local guy from here in town standing there. I said hello and noticed he was crying. I asked what was wrong and he pointed to one of the pictures and said that is me and my brother in that wagon. They were younger kids in the picture at this point the man was in his seventies. The other brother had just recently passed. The brother that has passed owned the farm just up the road from the factory. How ironic was it that he lived near where they had delivered milk.

What is happening at Crowley this weekend.
It will be busy one. Kiera will be at the Best of Vermont summer festival on Saturday. The retail store will open from 10-5 on Saturday and 11-5 on Sunday. Both will be serving yummy samples for your enjoyment.

Tomorrow is the day. Singletons Car-BQ. 11-3. Looks like a fun time.
We will be there sampling. Did I see ice cream and a pet adoption.

Twice in one week. Let me talk about a special going on right now here at the factory. Extra Sharp Garlic and Extra Sharp Sage are now $10 per pound. Come and get some.
The Extra Sharp Garlic is great in Mac n Cheese.
The Sage is good in Omelets.

Last day of production for the week was today. Not to worry we are still here to give tours and serve samples. Friday will be a cutting day. We will cut as many blocks as we can to get ready for the very busy times ahead. Then next week right back at it. Tomorrow will be another 100% humidity day. So, the air conditioner will be going full bore. That will cool off the lobby as well. Come on in. We love when you visit. The trim case is full. Bring some home . Saving lots of money in the process. The money you saved can be used on other things in the store. Jams, Jellies, Pickles. Or other goodies too numerous to mention.
Next week is CarBBQ at singletons store. We will be there sampling our delicious cheeses. There will be a pet adoption happening as well. No, I am not adoptable. Sounds like a fun day. Looking forward to seeing you there. It's a great way to get a good lunch .

Kennedy Plane Crash
June 19, 1964

Kennedy plane crash in our orchard. Across the street from the orchard you now see on East Street is now wild and grown in, but in 1964, the hill was host to rows of old standard apple trees.
On June 20, the top headline on the front page of the Gazette read: “Sen. Kennedy is injured in plane crash which is fatal to pilot and an aide.”

Just a few miles from touching down on the runway, the pilot ran into trouble and the plane crash-landed in the Bashista apple orchard off East Street in Southampton at about 11 p.m.
This happened at one of our wholesale customers orchard. Thought I would share.

It's dark and dreary here at the factory today. But that is the perfect time to visit. Tomorrow is supposed to bring 6 inches of rain to our part of the world. Good the thing the rivers are low. With any luck we can keep our power. We are under an extreme flood alert. But we will be making cheese if everything works the way it is supposed to. Come on up and visit. Taste some of our samples and buy some yummy cheese. Don't let a little rain stop you.
