The Polycarbonate Store began in 2011 as a division of Charley’s Greenhouse & Garden in Mount Vernon, Washington. Our focus is in outdoor living, do-it-yourself projects, building ‘repurposing’, and hobby use of polycarbonate products. We ship all over the U.S. to help our customers with everything from patios and porches to old timbered barns to the most expensive homes. Letting light come in and

keeping snow, rain, and wind out has been at the center of thousands of projects. Charley’s Greenhouse & Garden has been working with polycarbonate since it’s initial use in the greenhouse industry - over 37 years. At the Polycarbonate Store we offer the full polycarbonate line in multiple colors. Call us at 1-888-977-POLY or visit https://www.polycarbonatestore.com for more information.

Confused about which screws to use for your polycarbonate install? You're not alone, and picking the wrong one is a mistake you don't want to make.

If you're using our Aluminum Bar Cap System, you'll want the Zinc Plated Pan Head Screws, which screw directly into your wood rafters, not through the polycarbonate. If you're using joiner caps (H Channel) and screwing directly through your panels, you'll want the Washer Head Screws paired with our 1" Gasket Washers.

That second gasket matters. It spreads out the pressure from the screw so your panels don't crack, and creates a watertight seal that holds up as the polycarbonate expands and contracts with heat.

What does professional-grade polycarbonate roofing look like on a real project? 🔨

The Jacques in the Garden team put our Solvera Pro Glazing System to work on the pergola above their outdoor kitchen, creating a finished roof that provides protection from sun and rain without taking away from the look of the structure.

Solvera Pro combines multiwall polycarbonate with high grade aluminum glazing components, concealed hardware, gasketed seals, and built-in moisture management for a clean, professional finish.

Two ways to join polycarbonate sheets, two different jobs. Let's walk through the polycarbonate H Channel / Joiner Cap (the common choice, sheets slide right in, no need to land on a rafter) and the Aluminum Bar Cap (drills into the middle between sheets with gaskets for a longer-lasting, more advanced waterproofing setup).

If you're installing on a wall, the H Channel usually does the job. If you want to install your roof once and be done with it, the Aluminum Bar Cap is built for that, though keep in mind it's roof only.

Need a water-tight system that works on walls AND roofs? Our new Solvera Pro Glazing System features a double gasket for extra weatherproofing, a beauty cap for a clean finish, and multiple color options to match your build.

Questions about which one fits your project? Call us at 888-977-7659 or email [email protected] and we'll help you get it right.

What do you get when you add a roof over an outdoor kitchen? A whole lot more time to enjoy the space.

Jacques from Epic Gardening recently installed our new Solvera Pro Glazing System over an existing pergola at the Epic Gardening retreat property in Maine, creating a watertight multiwall polycarbonate roof designed to look as good as it performs.

The project gave Jacques a chance to put Solvera Pro to the test from start to finish, from ordering the complete system and installing the aluminum glazing components to adding the final beauty covers and flashing.

The result? A clean, professional-looking roof that helps protect the structure below and keeps the outdoor kitchen usable when those rainy Maine days roll in.

Go behind the build in our full project feature, including installation details, moisture management, finishing touches, and Jacques' full video showing the Solvera Pro installation from start to finish.

Choosing the right multiwall polycarbonate cell style isn't about picking the thickest panel.

The best choice depends on what you're building, your climate, and what matters most to you.

🌞 Twinwall offers excellent light transmission and is a great all-around choice for greenhouses, pergolas, patio covers, and many other DIY projects.

🌿 Triple Wall is the sweet spot if you want more insulation while still letting in plenty of natural light. In 16mm, many customers also appreciate that it offers a clearer, more glass-like view than 5X-Wall.

⛈️ 5X-Wall is engineered for maximum strength and insulation. Its reinforced X-web design delivers exceptional rigidity, outstanding thermal performance, and impressive resistance to high winds, hail, and heavy snow. Our 16mm 5X-Wall Storm panels even meet the Miami-Dade hurricane resistance standard, making them an excellent choice for storm-prone regions and impact-resistant window protection.

Swipe through to compare the differences and find the best fit for your project.

Still have questions? Just reach out! We're always happy to help you choose the right materials for your greenhouse, pergola, patio cover, storm protection, or other DIY project.

Not sure which polycarbonate thickness is right for your project? Here's a quick way to narrow it down. 👇

🌱 6mm Twinwall
80% light transmission • R-1.6
Great for greenhouse sidewalls, cold frames, hoop houses, and replacing older or damaged greenhouse kit panels.

🏡 8mm Twinwall / PoliSoft
81% light transmission • R-1.7 (79% for PoliSoft)
A budget-friendly favorite for greenhouses, pergolas, and patio covers. The PoliSoft color, available only in 8mm, is especially popular for greenhouse roofs thanks to its soft, highly diffused growing light.

💪 10mm Twinwall
82% light transmission • R-1.9
Our most popular all-around choice thanks to its balance of affordability and strength. It offers the highest light transmission of any of our standard Twinwall panels while providing the added benefits of multiwall polycarbonate. A great fit for greenhouse roofs, pergolas, patio covers, lean-tos, and other everyday roofing projects.

❄️ 10mm Triple Wall
74% light transmission • R-2.1
Looking for a little more insulation and rigidity? This is a great step up for colder climates and premium greenhouse builds.

✨ 16mm Triple Wall
74% light transmission • R-2.5
A premium option for greenhouses, pergolas, patio covers, and skylights when strength, insulation, and a clean finished look are top priorities.

🌬️ 16mm 5X-Wall
64% light transmission • R-2.78
Built for demanding conditions with excellent insulation. Ideal for colder climates, higher snow loads, windy locations, and projects where durability comes first.

🏗️ 25mm Triple Wall
72% light transmission • R-2.94
Our highest insulation option for large or commercial-style projects. It requires a little more installation planning, but it's an excellent choice when thermal performance is the priority.

Every project is different, and the "best" panel depends on your goals, climate, and structure. If you're planning a build and aren't sure where to start, we're always happy to help you choose the right materials.
