Did you notice anything different at Taste of Muskegon this year?

Angela Fox from GreenMichigan.org and the Taste of Muskegon Sustainability Team rolled out sustainability in the best way this year:

Waste Sorting Stations!

Fillanthropie owner, Tarah Rhenae, lent a hand sorting trash, compost & recycling on Friday from 5-7pm. Just in those 2 hours, we filled our compost bin 5 times! Trash and recycling were very minimal.

How it worked:
-Vendors committed to using compostable serve ware
-Attendees brought all waste to stations to be sorted
-Volunteers sorted waste into appropriate bins

Why it matters:
-Using compostable serve ware eliminates trash and unrecyclable plastic waste typically produced from events like this.
-Composting diverts waste from landfills, cutting down on harmful greenhouse gas emissions, and creates healthy soil that conserves water and naturally supports plant growth.

This Week at Fillanthropie🫙

Dearest Fillanthropist,

Happy June! There's a lot happening around downtown this first week of June, and we're excited to be a part of it all!

-Tuesday, June 2, Fillanthropie sponsors the color blue in the Pride Flower Flag located at Muskegon City Hall

-Wednesday, June 3, Food Truck Rally at the Muskegon Farmer's Market starting at 5pm, and we are open right across the way until 7 pm.

-Saturday, June 6, Muskegon Pride Festival kicks off with a parade at 10:30 am. We will be open normal hours, 10am-4pm

-Summer hours update next week. So far, we have seen little to no traffic after 5 pm on Wednesdays, therefore the decision has been made to make adjustments that fit the needs of our community. We're also hearing demand for earlier Saturday hours. Check out hours starting next week:
