You can always tell when somebody’s locked in at the wheel.

The room could be loud.
People could be coming in and out.
Music’s playing.
Questions are flying around the studio.

And then there’s this spot… where somebody is carefully shaping one curve for five straight minutes like the entire world depends on it 😄

Wheel throwing has a funny way of doing that to people. One tiny adjustment turns into another, and suddenly an hour disappears.

This felt like a good reminder that slowing down every once in a while isn’t such a bad thing 💙

Pottery studios run on a surprising amount of coffee. ☕️

Not just drinking it… talking about it, making mugs for it, testing pour overs with it, and absolutely getting distracted mid-conversation because someone brought in a really good roast.

At this point, pottery and coffee are basically coworkers around here 😄

Not everyone wants the same pottery experience… and honestly, that’s kind of the point.

Some people want to drop in once in a while and make something with their hands after a long week.

Some want regular studio time without committing to a full membership.

And some are here so often they basically have a favorite sponge and “their” seat 😄

That’s why All Hands Pottery offers a few different Open Studio options depending on how often you want to create:

🏺 Single Session
Perfect if you want to pop in occasionally and work at your own pace.

🏺 Punchcard
Great for people who know they’ll be back regularly but want flexibility in their schedule.

🏺 Membership
Unlimited Open Studio access plus extra perks for the pottery people who can’t stay away from clay for too long 😉

Open Studio is self-guided time to work on your own projects, practice techniques, glaze pieces, or just enjoy a few hours making something.

No pressure.
No agenda.
Just you and the clay.

Questions about which option fits you best? Send us a message or stop by the studio!

Between the matcha, the music, the carving, and the conversations happening around the tables, this workshop turned into one of those nights that people didn’t seem ready to leave.

We had 21 participants join us for our Matcha + Kurinuki Bowls workshop with Tiffany from Uncertified Cafe, with makers handbuilding and throwing their own matcha bowls while sipping on some seriously fun drinks along the way.

A huge thank you to Tiffany for bringing such a thoughtful experience into the studio!

And based on how much everyone loved this one… we have a feeling this won’t be our last collaboration together 👀

Reclaimed clay day always looks slightly questionable at first 😄

A table full of mystery blobs. Some aggressively wedged chunks. At least one person asking, “Are we sure this is the same clay?”

But this is one of those behind-the-scenes studio things that matters more than people realize. Clay gets recycled constantly around here. Trimmings, scraps, abandoned lumps from somebody’s wheel… it all gets worked back in, mixed up, rehydrated, wedged, and given another shot.

It’s messy. It takes time. But it’s also part of what makes a community studio work. Nothing's wasted if it can still become something useful.

Today’s weird gray pile could be somebody’s favorite mug in a few weeks 💙

You know it’s a good day in the studio when you’re laughing like this.

Not because everything went perfectly.
Not because you nailed it on the first try.

Just because you’re in it with someone else, and it’s fun.

These are the moments that stick. 💙

Nothing brings pottery people together faster than a table full of fresh clay bodies 😄

The studio members spent some time testing out new Kentucky Mudworks clay last week, and let’s just say… opinions were formed immediately.

“The Dark Star.”
“Buttery.”
“Like butter.”
“Very smooth.”
“I’m excited about the speckle content.”

Honestly, listening to potters describe clay might be one of our favorite studio activities.

Now we wait to see how these test tiles and pieces fire 🔥

Today feels a little quieter.

At the studio, we spend so much time celebrating creativity, community, and connection, but Memorial Day is a reminder of the people whose sacrifice made those moments possible in the first place.

We’re thinking today about service, courage, and the families who carry both pride and loss at the same time.

From all of us at All Hands Pottery, we remember and honor those who gave their lives serving our country. ❤️💙

There’s a moment in pottery where people stop asking, “Is this right?” and start trusting themselves a little more.

You can almost see it happen.

A bowl gets picked up and turned in the light.
Someone studies the curve for a second.
Maybe they make one small adjustment… maybe they decide it’s finished exactly as it is.

Those quiet little moments of confidence are honestly one of the coolest things to watch in the studio 💙
