We are so pleased and happy to present another workshop by Harper July on Sigil making on Saturday, 9/26 at 6:30pm! Last year’s intro class by Harper July has lead her to bring you a more in depth look at Sigils. No need to have taken the intro class to take this workshop. It’s free and all are welcome.
Pioneered by artist and occultist Austin Osman Spare, sigil magic is among the most significant contributions to 20th century magical practice. Adopted by the Chaos Magic movement and widely utilized by contemporary witchcraft, sigils have become synonymous with magical practice today. However, sigils were just one facet of Spare’s magical development, with much of his life dedicated towards the development of a uniquely personal system of glyphs that he dubbed: The Alphabet of Desire. The work of a lifetime, an Alphabet of Desire is a lexicon of personal symbols which, with a little creativity, provide the framework for a flexible system of sorcery that can be utilized by itself, or incorporated into just about any existing magical practice.
In this workshop we will explore the creation, the underpinning theory, and sorcerous applications of an Alphabet of Desire. Delving into the extant writings of Austin Osman Spare and the scholarship that followed, we will investigate how to develop your own sacred alphabet as well as the alphabet’s magical use including - automatism, the creation of talismans, divination, and conjuration.
Harper July is a, mostly, friendly neighborhood witch and occult researcher based in western Massachusetts. A proud cog in the Austin Osman Spare propaganda machine, she is also a student of the cunning tradition, operative witchcraft, and the endless dance of the Witch’s Sabbath.
This is a FREE workshop provided by Splendor Solis.
Donations are welcome to fund research for future workshops, but not expected 😉
