Jackson-Vinton Farm Bureau Ag Experience day 2026! 19 stations ( station 11 was the best 😉). 490 2nd graders came though today, we had a wonderful time teaching the kids about the Highland breed ! Needless to say WL Melody and HRF Harmony were a hit. Today I spoke about the history , traits and appearances, beef quality .

So many kids asked some really great questions today ! A few questions were :
If they break their horn does it grow back ?
How much do they eat in a day?
Are they good mommas?
How big do there horns get? Do they get as big as a Texas long horn?
Are they related to the yak?
Do the baby calves horns come in later as they grow ?
Do males have bigger horns than the females and do they curve in a different way ?

I told ya some really good questions were asked. We like to thank all of those that were involved in making today happen and asking us to be a part of it !

Hi everyone — Emily here from Highland Ridge Farms!

I wanted to hop on and share a little more about the waffle fundraiser we’re currently running on our page.

Since January 2025, I’ve had the opportunity to serve on the Midwest Highland Cattle Association Junior Program Board. I’ve been working alongside a group of incredibly passionate, like-minded individuals who are dedicated to growing the next generation within our association and expanding opportunities for our youth.

Throughout the year, we organize events and activities for our junior members, with our biggest event being Camping with the Coos. This is a FREE weekend experience we offer to our MWHCA juniors — full of fun, hands-on learning, and unforgettable memories.

If you’ve ever been around stock show or farm kids, you know they are some of the hardest-working, most dedicated individuals out there. Their passion for agriculture, their animals, and this breed is truly inspiring, and it’s amazing to watch them grow into the future leaders of our industry.

To make these opportunities possible, our board relies on donations and sponsorships. That’s where this waffle fundraiser comes in. A close friend of mine runs these types of fundraisers, and it gave me the idea to try one to help support our junior program.

I just want to be clear — this is NOT a scam. This is simply a small farm doing its part to support the future of our association and invest in these hardworking kids.

Well LiTerra Silver Nitro had a busy and productive June . As February is showing the fruits of his labor, 4 out of 6 calves born thus far ! 2 boys and 2 girls and all born on the coldest of days 🙃. It’s a s year for AHCA drop comments regarding names !

Surprise ! First calf of 2026 was born Sunday night. He needed some help, so into the shop for a spa day and some warm food in his belly to warm him up! After battling most of the morning and day he was put back with mom. I never been so happy to see calf zommies and someone feeding off of mom. Today was a story of success and we will take that ! LiTerra Silver Nitro and HUM Homestead Nanette gave us this little bull calf starting our 2026 calving season.( Side note this is the 3 bull calf she has given us in 3 years and she isn’t understanding the assignment)
