This c. 1860s antique guitar has been in Gryphon’s collection of instruments for decades and has never been offered for sale until now. This guitar is being sold on eBay just as we got it years ago, all we’ve done is change the strings.
We don’t know much about this instrument, but although the body appears somewhat like early 19th Century French guitars, the neck construction and headstock shape suggests it may have been made in what is now Germany. The body is 11 1/4 inches wide at the lower bout and about 17 1/4” long, sides are 3 3/8" deep at endpin, so it's about the size of a Martin size 3 (although a very different shape). This is a very lightweight guitar, weighs under 1 3/4 lbs. and much of that is the black-stained hardwood neck.
