I had the honor of being inducted into the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame in 2025! My name is Vincent ("Vinnie")Mondello
I am 64 yrs old , hail from Pflugerille, TX. Stromberg 4 string tenor banjos are my passion. My Grandfather Frank,Great Uncle Victor and my Father James" Buster" Mondello were prominent banjo players from E.Boston Mass. and playe

d with many bands and orchestras throughout their lives. My Dad grew up playing instruments in Chas and Elmer Stromberg's shop at 40 Hanover St. , E.Boston. My Grandfather met Chas.A.Stromberg at the Thompson-Odell factory in t he early 1900s and worked also with him at the Stromberg shop ,as well as the Fairbanks-Vega Co., building and testing instruments. My Dad passed away 1-27-2011 and I am doing what I can to keep the family history involved in 4 string banjo. Thank you all for your support over the years.

I am not sure how many of you have ever seen this stamping on a Rogers head but it is not often that it is where it was not trimmed off on the edge. I happened to see it on the head I installed on the Style X.

On the Style M to Style X No. 9 conversion, I decided to go back to the original Rogers hide head while it is in my ownership, because that is the way I want it to sound and look. A few stains do not bother me so I cleaned it up to where it looks better and now it sounds like a 20s banjo again. Also finished fixing up the case a bit, now it can give good service again.

I like any instrument that is based on a stretched hide head.
The construction of these Afghan Rubab's is a work of art and human skill. So many things that transfer into what I do daily. (Especially the super glue / sawdust, which brings this instrument into a new age! ASMR, for me.
