"The Infinite Panopticon" opens Friday August 7th in the second floor gallery of the Carlisle Arts Learning Center. There will be a reception that evening and an artist talk by me on the last day of the show Saturday September 12.

The finished artist book I created, "Loom Data." The book is a photo book featuring photographs of sixteen Jacquard Loom Cards found at the abandoned Scranton Lace Factory. The book is printed on Canon matte photo paper. I deckled the edge and sandwiched each page around black cardstock to make it opaque. The binding is a Japanese Stab Binding. It is my first time trying it and I never even knew about it until I started this project. First time success. It is sewn together with linen bookbinding thread. Funny aside, I had to go in for remedial sewing in junior high home economics. This is probably the first time I have touched a needle since.

The loom punch cards of repeating pattern would be bound together into giant reams. They would then be fed through the giant Nottingham Looms and the punches on the card would determine the lace pattern.
