Meet a selection of Steve Eichenberger's Guardians of the Inner Universe.

On view from September 3 to 26 and part of "Creative Alchemy : Between Dreams and Reality," these mixed media pieces, like all pieces part of this duo show, invite viewers to stand among sculptures that feel awake and imbued with intention, and to experience how inert materials can become companions in one's inner universe.

These Guardians offer presence, solidarity, strength, and the reminder that imagination is a force powerful enough to turn the intangible into artifacts that stand eye‑to‑eye with reality.

Steve works with materials that don't yield easily. Steel is struck, shaped, and tempered by pressure and heat; clay is coaxed into forms that feel unearthed rather than designed. Resulting artworks feel less like objects and more like forged companions, guardians, confidants — they stand with someone rather than simply stand before them.

Steve Eichenberger has been a full-time Oregon artist since 1995, fluent in several media and voraciously experimenting. As he explains, "I perceive my "inner artist" as a separate, mysterious entity with boundless energy that wanders mostly hidden in the recesses of my mind, and regards me as simply the "meat person" to carry out its wishes."

Currently available works by Chile-based American artist Deborah Donelson - original hand-pulled solarplate etchings, individually hand water-colored after printing. 1/1

Deborah frequently depicts birds, bird-like creatures and other fantastic anilmal-like creations to bring awareness to the suffering of animals - suffering that is largely inflicted by human behaviors.

Over the past long weekend a number of customers explored Deborah's work and asked questions as pieces resonated with them.

A changeling, also historically referred to as an auf or oaf, is a human-like creature found throughout much of European folklore.

According to folklore, a changeling was a substitute left by a supernatural being when kidnapping a human being. Although sometimes it was a "stock" (a piece of wood made magically to resemble the kidnapped human), more often the changeling was a supernatural being made magically to look like the kidnapped human.

These four changelings by Marco Calvi are part of his solo show "Fairies", which will run through September 26 here at Imperfecta Gallery.

They are all in watercolors, acrylics and pencils on paper and measure 8x10 inches - in love Marco's hand painted matting to extend and complement the illustrations.

In Marco Calvi's "Fairies", we meet the Fairy Queen— Titania— and her four handmaidens.

Titania is the Queen of the fairies and wife of the Fairy King, Oberon. The pair are depicted as powerful natural spirits who together guarantee the fertility or health of the human and natural worlds. She is a character in William Shakespeare's 1595–1596 play A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The names Titania sound vaguely classical, but neither is a figure from classical mythology. Survivals of homegrown English paganism were sometimes denounced as witchcraft; but Shakespeare folds his pagan fairies into the more accepted mythology of Greco-Roman literature. Shakespeare likely took the name Titania from Ovid's Metamorphoses, where it is an appellation given to the daughters of Titans. In traditional folklore, the fairy queen has no name. Due to Shakespeare's influence, later fiction has often used the name Titania for fairy-queen characters.

Titania's for handmaidens are Cobweb, Mustardseed, Peaseblosdom and Moth.

Cobweb has a special connection to the animal world. She always carries out the most delicate tasks—those requiring lightness and care. She is thoughtful, quiet, and wise.

Mustardseed hasties to the plant world. Cheerful, spirited, and often mischievous, she loves playing pranks on members of the court to amuse the Queen. If she remains quiet and still for too long, she is likely plotting some amusing trick.

Peaseblosdom is linked to the plant world. Skilled, swift, and efficient, she always carries out the Queen's orders.

Moth has a connection to the animal world. She has an eccentric and whimsical nature, often speaking in riddles and puns. It is said that through her painted eyes she can see everything, including the past and the future.

Thanks to the many that came to Imperfecta's last night!

It was so much fun watching familiar and new humans enjoying the art, the space and each other's company - very grateful for these opportunities to experience creative joy and wondrous connections.

Attending opening receptions is all about celebrating exhibiting artists' accomplishments -- so it was wonderful watching Jacquline Hurlbert and Steve Eichenberger engaging with art lovers and art lovers engaging with Marco Calvi's work while he cheered from Milano. I also enjoyed watching people experience U|R|1|2 immensely.

So thank you all!
