Thank you to everyone who spent time on our website last night - new faces, and friends who have ordered from us for years. This year we planned for significantly more volume than last year, and the demand went far beyond that. The Pacific Northwest and beyond showed up for our small business!

For many of you, our website did not hold up. Carts emptied mid-checkout, items disappeared before you could pay, and some of you were stuck on the payment screen far longer than is reasonable. We saw all of this happen in real time and worked to fix it. Our small team worked through the night and got back to it early this morning.

To the many of you who ordered - thank you for supporting our small shop. To the many of you who tried and did not make it through - thank you as well, and we are sorry.

Here is where things stand today: we're processing orders in the sequence they came into our system. We are working through the calls, voicemails, emails, and Instagram messages that came in overnight, and we appreciate your patience as we catch up. Inventory is shifting as we go, so please check the website for current availability.

It's just over 24 hours until the annual launch of Hobonichi! Ordering begins on August 31st, at 7:00pm Pacific time. Our full lineup is available now to view and add to your wishlist on our website, and please refer to our FAQ page first if you have any questions. For smooth ordering, We encourage creating an account ahead of time, along with adding your information and shipping address. If you are local, order online for in-store pickup to ensure you get the items you are looking for! Pickups begin on wednesday, September 2nd at 11am as there will *not* be in-person shopping or pickup availability on September 1st, to allow our team the time to accurately fulfill all orders.

While supplies last, Hobonichi orders (online and in person) will receive our "luck and sweetness" Oblation letterpress print, Oblation stickers, and Hobonichi Partner shop freebies. Our print is limited to the first 500 orders.

Join us in the shop for the annual launch of Hobonichi! We are doing things a bit differently this year so here are the details:

🍓 shopping in person begins Wednesday, September 2nd, at 11am. In-store pickup orders placed online will also be available at this time. To create a smooth pick-up process, we will have a specific line to the right of our register! Hobonichi shopping in person will be to the left.

🍓 we anticipate a line outside the shop on that morning. Please be kind and patient to one another once the store has opened at 11am. We will also be handing out donut holes to those who have lined up!

🍓 for the first 100 Hobonichi customers, (for pickups and in-store shopping) pull a mystery gift of our favorite Oblation items!

🍓 all Hobonichi customers (online or in person) will receive our Oblation letterpressed illustrated print, Hobonichi Partner Shop sticker, and Oblation sticker, while supplies last.

🍓 our letterpress gallery has transformed into the Hobonichi Hub! Enjoy snacks and setting up your planner, and junk journal with our ephemera, craft supplies, stamps, and washi tape.

🍓 try out our letterpresses and pull a commemorative miniature letterpress print for the occasion!

🍓 test all of our Oblation inks inside the Hobonichi planner tomoe river paper to see how the color lays and dries.

As a gift of thanks to our Hobonichi community near and far, we've created a piece of artwork for you to carry along with your planner journey this year. We were inspired by William Morris and the Arts & Crafts movement to create something truly "Oblation". A hand-letterpressed trifold sheet of handmade paper illustrated in-house and filled with intentions and inspirations. Finished off with a wax seal and a reminder to pause in the moment.

For our first Hobonichi 2027 orders, we will include this special gift to you, along with a themed Oblation sticker, and the official Partner Shop Hobonichi sticker. This edition is limited to 500. Will be included in all shipped and pick-up orders while supplies last.

📕 August 24th: The entire Hobonichi 2027 lineup will be listed to view on our website
📙 August 31st at 7pm pacific time: online ordering begins! This encompasses orders to ship, and in-store pickup orders
📔 September 2nd 11am: shopping in the store begins! At this time, pickup orders will also be available
📗 September 2nd-7th: enjoy breaking in your Hobonichi in our gallery space with ephemera collaging, stamping, ink swatching, and making a commemorative miniature letterpress print!

We are thrilled to present our Stationery Fest collaboration with Imperfect Concepts! This Italian leather journal cover was meticulously created to match Wildwood Trail, our latest fountain pen ink specially made for the festival. Every step of the process is handmade in California: Hand cut, color splattered and edge painted with color matched green hues, and heat stamped with Stationery Fest 2026 inside, limited to an edition of 30. Find this notebook, ink and sticker at our booth, G12. Any remaining stock will be available in-store and on our website once we return from New York!

Countdown to Stationery Store Day! This Saturday, August 1st, join us for the 5th annual celebration. Stop by the shop to get a miniature letterpress print, test some pens, and find some of our newest arrivals.
The festivities:

Official Stationery Store Day merchandise will be available in the shop - washi, stickers, notepads, and the Soolla pouch. Quantities are limited and won't be restocked, so come early if there's something you have your eye on. Remaining merch goes online Sunday, August 2.

Gift bag giveaway: The first 10 customers who spend $100 or more on Saturday receive a complimentary gift bag. Inside are goodies from Oblation and Hat+Wig+Glove Co., plus local friends Egg Press, Green Bird Press - Letterpress Printing and Bookbinding, Oldschoolstationers, , Sticker Girl ™, and Wildkat Studio.

Wildwood trail: Our newest ink debuted this week at Stationery Fest in New York! It is a deep forest green, named for the miles of trails that run through the northwest hills of Portland. Finished by hand with a letterpress label in our studio. Available in the shop on Saturday, August 1st, and remaining stock online Sunday, August 2.

New Oblation Charm: A charm of our parakeet mascot, cast in brass and clutching a tiny fountain pen, also made its debut at Stationery Fest this week. This little charm attaches to a notebook strap, a bag, or wherever you keep your writing tools close. Available now in the shop and online.

At long last we are thrilled to announce our Stationery Fest debut item, Wildwood Trail fountain pen ink! This latest collaboration with Anderillium Inks is inspired by the miles of trails that weave through the northwest hills of Portland. We couldn't think of anything more enchanting than an urban wild space filled with history and wonder - not unlike the vast central park in New York City. Each bottle has our signature handmade paper letterpressed label, all made in our shop. And as a special treat for fest-goers, we hand-mixed a small batch of shimmer ink that will only be available at this event. For our local Portland customers, don't fret, we have more info to announce to you soon!
