We strive to carry a complete selection of monthly comic books, comic and art related magazines, graphic novels, manga, back issues, comics history/art/reference books, newspaper comic strip collections, artist biographies/collections and a handful of toys, posters and t-shirts. Our staff is knowledgable and passionate about comics as eternal art or disposable gutter trash.

Hello everyone! Your resident manga fiend at Cosmic Monkey is here to tell you about some new and notable titles at the shop! This week, I want to recommend a work from one of my personal favorite artists, Kenji Tsuruta’s Emanon series from Dark Horse Comics...

In 1967, a man meets a seemingly timeless young woman - who only goes by the name “Emanon” - on a boat back from Vietnam. He’s drawn to her beauty and familiarity before Emanon tells him tales of her eternal life - one where she can remember the birth of the universe itself. Kenji Tsurata’s mystical tale is told through his textured art style is some of my favorite to look at. This is work of contemplative science fiction filled with melancholy and features love that spans across generations – all told by a woman who endlessly wanders.
