A good old-fashioned record store like you used to walk into back in the ’70s and early ’80s. Featuring a combination of new and used albums; honoring the music from radios stations including: WLIR, WEHM & WBAB. A place that reminds us what it is like to go into a store, hold a record in your hands, and have a connection to the music. You walk in with an idea of what you are looking for and walk out with music that stretches your imagination.

Thanks to everyone who visited Sunday Records this afternoon. lots of great records left the store today, and they will be filling many homes with music. The shop will be closed for the next six weeks (re-opening on Sunday October 25), while my wife and I travel out west. I look forward to welcoming you all back when I return. No matter where I go, I am looking for records. Looking, learning, and finding the best inventory for Sunday Records. Yesterday, I found a few at Bradstock - a weekend-long music festival at Camp Paquatuck in Center Moriches. I’ve read that people were lining up outside record shops on Thursday night for the midnight release of the new Phoebe Bridgers Lost Weekend album. Well, if you’ve been waiting outside Sunday Records, I have good news… the wait is almost over. The shop opens today at 11, and I have the new Phoebe Bridgers. Another Sunday Records field trip - this time to see Kansas and Deep Purple at Jones Beach. And, I was honored to see Ritchie Blackmore join Deep Purple on stage for the first time since 1993 for Smoke on the Water. After seeing Triumph in June, then Rush in July, seeing Blackmore with Deep Purple is my third time this summer seeing something I thought would never happen again. What a great season this has been for live classic rock!

Tomorrow, Sunday Records teams up with East End Arts to celebrate a unique exhibit. EEA Detour VII (Open for the Stones) showcases the intersection of music and visual arts. At the exhibit, you will see original paintings by Stu Sutcliffe (first bassist for the Beatles), Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Ron Asheton (The Stooges), and many others. At the record shop, you will find a crate full of records associated with the artists. The exhibit runs through August 22. So, come to Downtown Riverhead, visit Sunday Records and East End Arts, and immerse yourself in music and art. Sunday Records is located at 125 Roanoke Avenue, and East End Arts is just around the block at 48 W. Main Street.

Sunday Records field trip - I caught Rush at the Garden tonight - haven’t seen them since the late ‘80’s and I found it remarkable how good they still sound. Geddy and Alex are obviously excited be back on stage, and the new drummer Anika Niles did a fantastic job. Definitely go see them if you have the chance.
