Well guys… 😅🤣🙃😭💔

After HOURS of working on my soap dishes and trying to figure out my router, I was carrying them over to stamp them… and DROPPED THEM. 🙃 Half of them broke. 😂

Apparently the Amish wood I bought was a little too soft for what I was trying to do. So then I decided to use one of my good pieces of wood from the local sawmill… because surely that would solve my problems, right? 🤡

NOPE.

I completely butchered it because that wood is HARD and my router decided it simply wasn’t going to cooperate—even with a guide. 😭🤣

So I finally threw in the towel… and the router… and bought a router table off Marketplace. 😂🙌

The first 5 boards worth of soap dishes were made at a friend’s woodworking shop, and I was determined to figure out how to do the rest completely on my own. Apparently my strong independent womanness has limits. LMAO. 🤣

So… what do we do with all these slightly traumatized soap dishes?

GRAVEYARD SOAP DISHES. ⚰️🪦😂

This week is for wood working!

Our display at Harmony Acres got a facelift with the help of one awesome little boy! Shelves have been added and we stocked some face creams!

John and I are also in the process of restocking our soap dishes! All handmade with local lumber. I hand picked pieces while I was in Amish country and some are from a local sawmill. There won’t be any made in China formaldehyde glue soap dishes on my table! 💁🏼‍♀️😅🧼

Updates!

I thought it would be easy to make round make up remover pads. It’s not 🤣 they will be square. There’s no set dimensions for these as I don’t like to waste fabric so they will be cut out of scraps in true “close enough” fashion to a sort of standard size 🤣

The following have been cured and are available:
Restock of oatmeal milk and honey, now made with Highlands Honey and a FULL water replacement of HA milk! Which means 17oz of milk in every 20 bar batch!
Restock of campfire s’mores, a customer favorite! It got a design face lift.
Cashmere whispers (fall flannel)
Rustic lodge (cabin fever)
Country bumpkin (country roads)
DIRT!!! (Opening Day) A soap designed for the hunters made with bentonite clay to give a gritty scrub and nice natural clay scent with the FO. Designed for before and after your hunt.

These are all of the seasonal fragrances I am going to offer, although I say that and then I see one on sale that I want 🤣. However I am now out of soap tallow so I’ll be moving on to making other products for a while. Maybe a fall whipped tallow!

I’ll share just about everything… except my recipes. Because why would I sell my soul to the devil? 🤣🤣 Just kidding. But those are a few things I’m keeping close to the chest. 😂

This isn’t just another sales post. I hate those. “Come buy my sh*t!” 😂 I try to have a different approach to marketing.

I like to read my audience from the moment you walk into my booth. Shy and just want to browse? I got you. Outgoing and want to talk my ear off? BRING IT. I’m happy to appease either way!

If you ever come up to my booth and I don’t acknowledge you past a friendly hello, I probably just read your vibe wrong and thought you wanted some space to think and browse. 🤣🤪🫠

ANYWAYS… back to the actual point of this post. 😂

I got a new-to-me serger because I’m working on adding reusable makeup remover pads to the business. Eventually, I want to put together some really cute gift sets with facial soaps, makeup removers, and face creams.

I loved the idea.

The serger? Not so much. 😂

I changed out the dull needles and knives, and now it runs like an absolute dream… but it makes stitches straight out of my nightmares. 🫠

And I would know, because this stupid thing kept me up half the damn night trying to figure out what the heck was wrong. 🤣

Nothing chaps my bum more than spending my precious 2 hours of kid-free time every night before bed trying to fix a problem I didn’t even ask for. 😂

So here ya go. The raw, behind-the-scenes energy of the crazy redhead running this little business. 🤣

It’s not always pretty. Sometimes it’s not even functional. Sometimes I’m sitting there at 11 PM questioning every life choice that led me to buying a sewing machine. 😂

But I’m learning, figuring it out, and making it work.

And hopefully, eventually, I’ll have some adorable little reusable makeup remover pads to show for it. ❤️🧵

P.s. I barely even wear makeup anymore 🤣 these are strictly for my people. I think my eye shadow pallet is still from my wedding 5 years ago because yes I did my own makeup 🤣. I am a walking marketing post for my products, except for maybe this one LOL 💁🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🫣
