FOUND AN EXTRA FLAP OF PAPER INSIDE YOUR COMIC? DON'T CUT IT OFF!

Not every unusual piece of paper inside a comic book is damage. A manufacturing defect known as a "Maverick Page" can occur during the printing and trimming process. When a cutting blade becomes dull, small flaps of excess paper may remain attached to interior pages. These are production defects, and not something that needs to be repaired! Never trim away the excess material simply to make the book look cleaner. You're permanently removing original paper.

THE MOO ERASER IS GONE. WHAT'S THE NEXT BEST ALTERNATIVE?

For years, the Moo eraser was one of our favorite tools for dry cleaning comic books. Unfortunately, it's no longer available.
After testing more than 30 different erasers, we've found the Acurit Four-in-One Eraser to be one of the closest alternatives!

A good dry-cleaning eraser should remove surface soiling without excessive abrasion. Always work gently, especially around colored inks and delicate cover finishes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our FAQ explains why proper cooling under press pressure matters—and why placing weights on top of a book isn't equivalent. Removing a comic too early can allow waviness, rippling, and curling to return. https://comicbookcpr.com/faq

FOUND A COMIC BOOK WITH MULTIPLE COVERS? DON'T PRESS IT LIKE A NORMAL COMIC!

Multi-cover comics are fascinating printing errors that require special attention during cleaning and pressing.

The additional cover changes the thickness and structure of the book. Proper stacking-layer adjustments are necessary to prevent unwanted impressions, shifting, and uneven pressure.

Inspect every cover and its attachment points before attempting any pressing procedure. Learn more about pressing multiple cover comics using the formulas found in Comic Book CPR.

THAT OLD PRICE MARK MAY BE PART OF YOUR COMIC'S HISTORY!

Newsstand grease-pencil prices, date stamps, and store markings aren't ordinary surface dirt. Aggressive removal can damage paper, smear wax, or disturb original ink. Sometimes preservation means leaving history alone.

YOUR COMIC COLLECTION DESERVES BETTER THAN AN ATTIC OR BASEMENT!

The Library of Congress recommends storing comics in cool, relatively dry, stable conditions with minimal light exposure.

Avoid attics, basements, heating vents, and direct sunlight.

Proper preservation begins long before cleaning or pressing becomes necessary.

Read the preservation guidelines:
https://wwws.loc.gov/preservation/care/comics.html

Verification: The Library of Congress's official Care, Handling, and Storage of Comic Books guidance confirms these environmental recommendations and the risks associated with unsuitable storage locations.
