Yesterday marked, for me, 3 years of being sober. It had just gotten a little out of hand during Covid. I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t helping me with my health or weight loss goals or our financial goals. My daughter was also pregnant and I didn’t want anyone to ever worry if grandma was gonna be drunk.

Alcohol literally has no benefit to the body. In fact, it is toxic -more than they’ve ever told us.

I read the book “This Naked Mind” and I listened to a two hour podcast of Andrew Huberman about alcohol and what it does to the body. I went cold turkey, but that’s kind of who I am. Ha.

I feel so good and we still have lots of fun at parties and events. The dry movement is pretty big right now so there’s nonalcoholic beverages available many places and sober bars opening up.

We’re open later hours today and tomorrow! There’s lots to do in town and vendors to shop! Come see us. We have our disc...

We’re open later hours today and tomorrow! There’s lots to do in town and vendors to shop! Come see us. We have our discount room open for a Fill A Bag sale!

Be aware that our street is closed. If you put Sparta Center Church on State Street in your map, then you can get back behind the dentist or funeral home -there’s a whole bunch of parking lots that connect- and then you can walk across the street to our store. If you can’t get into Sparta Center church then take Centennial to Union. It’s one street south of us. Pull in by the little Dog Groomer building behind Blondie Blossom and then you can also get to that set of parking lots. (There are signs for public parking in Sparta, but they aren’t anywhere near our store, but if you’re going to the festivities, then you can walk all of it if that makes sense.)

Book stacks!! You know the drill but if you’re new here you can comment which book you would like. If you can’t get here tomorrow or Saturday then please ask me for Venmo or for an invoice so you can use a credit card. As I said in my stories, but I will also make a post, the road is gonna be closed tomorrow and Saturday so you have to park across the street behind the businesses there and walk.

Just 9 more days until we discuss this book at our June 22 book club! If you haven’t started yet, there’s still time. I just started reading it this morning and I’m already on page 214. It’s going along pretty quickly and the writing makes you want to jump into the next chapter. If you read it years ago when it first came out, you can do a little refresher and come chat with us.
